Data network engineer to assist network team with merger and acquisition related activities. Need someone with strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. This position will require someone to engineer, at a technical level, transitional tasks for network related moves including operational integration with service request and change processes.
Support will involve corporate projects related to Internet connectivity, VPN networks, as well as WAN and data center activities both to the internal network as well as external vendors.
Engineering Tasks included:
Analyze existing Internet and VPN networks at merged companies and determine methods for integration into existing corporate network based on business requirements and templates.
Understanding of Internet WAN technologies including circuit types, as well as concepts such as BGP routing, AS Numbers, access-lists, multi-homing, and VLAN configurations.
Configuration of Cisco client VPN using AnyConnect, as well as clientless SSL VPN configurations. Understanding of Authorization technologies and techniques including RSA, RADIUS, and Microsoft AD integration.
Configure, document, and maintain Site to Site VPN connections using Cisco IOS.
Order network hardware
Load IOS, configure, and install network hardware including Cisco routers and switches.
Document the network design and supporting information using Visio drawings, spreadsheets, and databases.
Understand firewall systems and submit firewall policy change requests as needed.
Adhere to Corporate Change Control Procedures.
Provide 3rd level support for installed WAN and VPN infrastructure.
Assets:
Experience working projects and tasks within a Change Management system.
Experience working with load balancing systems.
Working knowledge of QoS in a WAN/LAN environment.
Working knowledge of SSL and Client VPN.
Knowledge of UNIX OS and using scripting functions.
Knowledge of TCP/IP and DNS administration.
Day in the Life:
This candidate will work with a group of 10 network engineers who design, implement, and maintain enterprise wide Internet services, Web Hosting environments, employee VPN and remote access environments, data center infrastructure, and connectivity to all third party organizations outside the UnitedHealth Group corporate environment. The engineer will interface with UnitedHealth Group businesses and external organizations to gather project requirements and implement network solutions to meet business requirements. The engineer is responsible to:
Order network equipment and data circuits
Configure and install network equipment
Work with the Telco's to test and turn up data circuits
Request and validate all firewall rules with Security Operations
Build site to site VPNs with external organizations
Manage all hardware in functional environments related to these connectivity options.
Work with internal UnitedHealth Group businesses to provide data and voice solutions.
