Our client located in McLean, VA is looking for a Mainframe Test Lead. This is a Long-term Contract and the hourly rate is DOE.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
Consults with client and IT management and staff throughout the project life cycle, to assist and support the design, development and implementation of effective systems. Leads teams to perform testing across multiple Mainframe and Network infrastructure projects. Analyzes infrastructure changes to identify impact and determine the most efficient method of testing that will ensure a high (coverage) quality deliverable. Provides guidance in the creation of standard test strategy, environments, tests plans and test scripts. Prepares and conducts acceptance testing of new or modified applications/systems. Analyzes, designs new or modified testing procedures and standards. Participate in the review of new QA software and consults with SMEs and client areas in resolving questions during the testing process. Performs related duties as assigned or requested. Provides resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable. Responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring projects and reporting to the PM on progress.Works under limited direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is evaluated upon completion for adequacy in satisfying objectives. Represents the organization as the principal customer contact on contracts and often performs project leadership role. Interacts with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters frequently requiring coordination across organizational lines.
Required Skills
- College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred. Typically has 6 - 10 years related experience.
- Experience with infrastructure level projects such as system upgrades, platform and technology migrations.
- Good understanding of Risk based testing and regression strategies that focus on efficiency
- Knowledge of Mainframe and Networks technologies
- Ensure code meets defined end-user (functional) and system (non-functional) requirements
- Previous experience with automated testing
- 3 plus years related experience as a tester and/or programmer with Mainframe
- 2 plus years related experience as a tester and/or Sys Admin for networking solutions
- At least 3 years experience with Test Management (preferably Quality Center) and Defect Tracking tools (preferably Rational), training and/or experience with tool administration functions preferred;
- Familiar with Requirements Management tools and Modeling tools
- At least 4 years Experience leading testing efforts for multiple medium to large size projects
- At least 3 years experience in producing various testing artifacts and metrics reports
- Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming language .
- At least 2 years Experience in Backend testing through analysis of log files in Unix server and through queries to database to validate system functionality and troubleshoot issues.
- Ability to create test cases and test data using HPQC tools
- Ability to create and update the RTM as required
Desired Skills
- CSQE, CSTE, CSQA or equivalent professional testing certification
