Job Summary:
Work with Interaction Designers, Visual Designers, researchers, product managers and technologists to design and drive product features and innovation to its family of web sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in composing web pages and creating special sections as assigned by site coordinator.
- Work hands on in the development of web applications
- Create and improve table free layouts on assigned sites
- Train and consult new web staff, contractors and freelancers.
- Prototype, develop and maintain new features and enhancements
- Operate as a leader or lead representative among staff, sharing knowledge, training and aiding subordinates and colleagues to benefit department
- Participate in workflow design and analyze existing production and implementation processes in order to ensure overall quality of sites and products.
- Maintain and support existing templates and content production processes.
- Perform web development, template writing, debugging, testing, documentation and installation tasks for online processes in accordance with industry best practices and internal procedures and standards.
- Responsible for task identification, work effort estimates and schedules for development and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate and work with others from a variety of creative disciplines to conceive innovative solutions

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Front End Engineer to join the Client development team in a senior role. In this capacity, you will write standards-compliant javascript, html, css and Flash to support world-class enterprise sites in the client family of brands. You will work closely with other front end engineers, back end engineers, designers and project managers to create site content and production tools that enhance user experience through your expertise in front end development.
Responsibilities:
• Front End development and maintenance for our premier content packages across properties such as HGTV.com, FoodNetwork.com, DIYNetwork.com, Frontdoor.com, and more. Known as Tentpoles & Digital Events, examples are Food Network Star, Dream Home, Summer Grilling, Design Star, and Urban Oasis.
• Build standards-compliant cross-browser/platform compatible web page content to be delivered via CMS platforms.
• Develop and maintain internal tools built to optimize build processes for Tentpole components such as Tours, Calendars, etc.
• Troubleshoot & optimize existing site package content.
• Collaborate with visual and user experience designers, project managers, and backend engineers to provide consistently high-end user experience.
Required Skills:
• 10+ years of experience in general web application development, with 8+ years with front-end development including best practice HTML/CSS/JS
• 8+ years of experience with JavaScript (including core/DOM, object-oriented JavaScript, Ajax, JSON, events, callbacks)
• 5+ years of experience with Adobe Flash and significant expertise with AS3
• Experienced with version control (SVN preferred)
