Firmware Engineer

Location: West Greenwich RI
Contract / W2
Overall Purpose and Objective:
This position is responsible for designing, developing and testing firmware to run on client's terminals and peripherals.
Responsibilities:
Develops, maintains and upgrades existing firmware to incorporate new features and equipment
Develops firmware for new products. Works with Hardware Engineers
Documents changes to new and proposed firmware
Researches solutions and responds to problems arising from any bugs discovered. Works with hardware and software engineers to pinpoint the source of the bugs
Exchanges detailed information with Software, Hardware and Test Engineering on a daily basis. Communicates with Product and Project Groups and Field Engineering as necessary
Evaluates and resolves field problems concerning firmware elements of lottery equipment
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or the equivalent.
6 years related experience
Embedded Systems Development
Extensive knowledge and experience with Linux Kernel Architecture
Linux Operating Systems development
Linux OS System Kernel Programming
Linux System Internals Device Driver Development
Hardware Board Support Package (BSP) Development
Must have the ability to configure, build, and release cross platform Linux tool chains.
Tool chain development and cross-compilation.
Kernel configuration and driver development.
Linux Graphics Device Driver experience a plus
Experience in virtualization technologies a plus
C/C++ Programming
Intel Atom, I3, I5, I7 architecture
Must have extensive experience with open source software development.
