Not to exceed hourly cost: $47
Consultant Role/Responsibilities or Tasks on Project:
· Planning and configuring databases for high availability and disaster recovery including clustering, replication and backup/restore processes.
· Monitor and tune database and application procedures to provide/support a high availability service.
· Work with the Development, Test, Conversion and Performance Test teams to identify database related areas that needs improvements
· Provide assistance with incident diagnosis, defect resolution, deployments, backup and restore.
· Analyze the database and data model and identify potential risks with respect to security and performance.
Job Description:
The Senior DBA is responsible for the creation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of multiple large SQL Server databases on MI BAM project. The DBA must be able to understand the application that he/she is supporting. Must be able to troubleshoot issue using a consistent methodology and he/she must be able to solve problems independently.
The DBA candidate must have a big picture of the application and relate various parts within the implementation. Must be able to understand and solve complex problems considering various variables.
Skills Required:
The Role that we are looking for is an application DBA, who must be experienced with and able to perform and lead the work of Database Programming which involves:
· The candidate must be able to write SQL Code such as
- Stored procedures, functions, triggers, views etc.
- Must be well versed with Data Definition Language (DDL), Data Manipulation Language (DML) and Transaction Control Language (TCL)
- Must be able to look at already written code and trouble shoot if necessary
- Must be able to come up with the most optimal Database Code solution for a given requirement
· The Candidate must be able to review code and suggest best practices. Must be able to debug complex code and trouble shoot complex problems.
· The candidate must be able to create guideline documents and standards. Must be able to audit the codebase and ensure the code complies with standards. Must be able to provide technical help to the team for complex technical bottle necks.
The candidate must be able to work with the application development team to process requests for database schema changes, recommend changes to the designs as necessary to meet data management objectives, must be able to assess the data conversion requirements of the change, and to process those changes quickly and efficiently, to not hinder the application development progress of the team.
