SharePoint Developer/Administrator

Location: Rockville, MD (Locals)

Duration:4+ month

 

Need Locals-Face to face interviews are required

 

Plans, designs, develops, codes, administers and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Revises and refines systems as required. Participates in the devising of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing and ongoing support of business systems. Develops and maintains operational and system level documentation. Must be able to apply SDLC concepts and have a proven track record of delivering solid, robust applications. Strong communication skills are required as position will interact with business owners. 10+ years of prior software development and SharePoint experience required.

This person must be knowledgeable about building applications utilizing SharePoint 2010. He/she should have both Developer and Admin skillset. The focus should be on utilizing OOTB functionality and configuration (including html, javascript) before deciding to use Visual Studio. Must have extensive experience in the functionality of SharePoint. This person must be a thinker more than a doer, therefore they must be able to think outside the box when designing solutions. Not everything should be in SharePoint, if there is a better solution, then that is an acceptable solution. This person must be well versed in third party packages that can enhance the abilities of Sharepoint. Must have good communications skills and can interact with business users to understand requirements.

 

Requirements Education/Certifications/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related area

MS certifications are a plus

8-9 years' experience in analysis, design, hands-on development and delivery of SharePoint applications

 

Skills Roles, Responsibilities and Duties :

Manage SharePoint farm

Managing and checking the overall server health and functionality

Monitoring SharePoint disk space usage through the built-in SharePoint reports for each site collection

Configures SharePoint services and settings

Managing SharePoint permissions and groups

Moving/copying sites

Supporting network load balancing needs and ensuring its correct operation (NLB)

Regular review of the events and messages reported in Event Viewer and Performance Monitor

Regularly analyzing SharePoint content and storage

Monitoring SharePoint trends (e.g. site usage and growth, disk space usage and growth)

Setting up alerts and enforcing policies

Regularly auditing your SharePoint environment

Identifying and reporting governance violations

Checking for operating system, SQL Server and SharePoint patches and cumulative updates and take appropriate actions.

 

From a knowledge perspective, the SharePoint person must have an above-basic level of understanding of:

Windows operating system and hardware – Basic administration of a server including service packs and hot fixes.

General knowledge of networking – IP, DNS, Load Balancing as well as the concepts of Availability, Scalability, and Maintainability. This person should also understand firewalls, encryption and security zones.

Internet Information Server (IIS) and the basic operation of websites, Application Pools, IIS Administration, the IIS Metabase, Ports, SSL Certifications (security certificates and wildcard certificates)

Microsoft SQL Server - Basic operation, tuning, transaction log selection, backup and recovery, and maintenance planning. Knowledge of stored procedures. Since SharePoint is completely supported by a Microsoft SQL Server database, the SharePoint Administrator is expected to be knowledgeable at the database level.

Knowledge of Central Administration, STSADM, the PowerShell administration modules. SharePoint Event Log troubleshooting, search administration and troubleshooting, concepts of a farm and the planning and implementation of Service Packs and Cumulative Updates.

Must possess an in depth understanding of the capabilities of SharePoint Server 2010

Solid understanding of C# and SharePoint API (Server Side & Client Side).

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of SharePoint APIs including experience with SharePoint web services 2010/2013

Strong programming skills in web development in a Microsoft environment

Must have experience on developing master pages, views, forms, templates, external lists, external content types, custom lists, web parts, surveys, timer jobs and other custom components.

Must have client side development experience including jQuery/Bootstrap JS/CSS

Hands on experience developing and managing applications with Visual Studio 2008/2010/2012

Debugging skills and techniques for each of these areas identified above – troubleshooting issues can occur within or across one-to-many of these areas.

This person must know SharePoint 2010 and Fast Search

Understand the business requirement document and create HLD & LLD

Ability to provide SharePoint support to end users

Should have knowledge to manage source code in TFS

Experience with SharePoint third party tools (like DocAve, Bamboo, Telerik, Omniture, Convio/Black Baud (eActivist)

Experience with Visual studio load test

Knowledge on Facebook and Twitter Widgets

Must have excellent communications skills

Must have excellent people management skills
