Position: Solutions Architect
Client: State of TN
Location: Nashville, TN
Rate: $35 per hour
The State of Tennessee has implemented a new process to plan, design, build, and operate infrastructure hosting solutions for State agencies. As part of this new process, a new architecture team has been formed to spearhead the design phase which includes gathering & documenting technical requirements, research, stakeholder negotiations, solution design, and documentation of the planned solution for handoff to the provisioning teams.
The Solutions Architect Team is made up of highly skilled and experienced technical resources that are able to quickly learn the State's technical environment which consists of two data centers, a highly complex, secure network, 2300+ servers (both virtual & physical), storage area networks with between 3-4 Petabytes of data, enterprise backup solutions, various database platforms such as Oracle & MS-SQL, and hundreds of applications ranging from small, legacy client/server apps to cloud-based solutions, or custom developed apps to enterprise ERP, CRM, BI, and so on. After understanding the State's environments, standards, and policies, the architects are responsible for developing, designing, and documenting the recommended architecture and configurations for a particular application or project migrating to or within the State's data centers. Architects may also be involved in developing technology roadmaps, standards, policies, and overall infrastructure and application architecture.
The Solutions Architecture Team is currently looking for qualified candidates to interview for the Solutions Architect position which will:
· Provide technical expertise in developing hosting solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and ensure proper protection for the State and its information technology assets. These solutions must be in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.
· Research, plan, and develop all design documentation related to projects as assigned. Projects may be related to new applications, system migrations, and disaster recovery.
· Candidates must have experience performing enterprise solution evaluations, documenting current state, future state, and performing gap analysis
· Candidates must have at least 5-10 years experience and working knowledge with each of the following areas:
o networking (firewalls, NAT, DNS, TCP/IP, subnets, vlans, load balancers)
o servers (virtual – VMware ESX Citrix, physical - HP and/or Sun, OS's - Microsoft, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris)
o SAN's (inc. replication)
o enterprise backup solutions
o relational database solutions
o security (network, server, application)
o disaster recovery
o design, support and/or implementation of enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, BI, etc.
o system migrations and upgrades
· Candidates should be proficient in using Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2003 or above (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Microsoft Visio 2007 or above
· Candidates must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff.
· Candidates must have demonstrated leadership and time management abilities
