Our client is seeking a high energy Senior Systems Administrator to help manage our growing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment infrastructure.
the resource will be part of the team that plans, builds, operates and scales the infrastructure that supports 24x7 operations of our customer's mission critical M2M solutions. He/she will be involved in everything from hardware and VM deployments, automation, monitoring, and performance tuning, to working with our developers to resolve live issues.
Responsibilities:
- Build, install, configure, analyze, troubleshoot and maintain Linux systems, DNS Servers and Virtual Environments in a high-availability 24x7, mission critical SaaS production environment
- Install, configure and troubleshoot Apache Webservers
- Responsible for day-to-day administration tasks including:
- Patch Management
- User Management
- Space Monitoring
- Performance Monitoring and Tuning
- Alert Log Monitoring
- Backup Monitoring
- Troubleshoot and resolve OS, virtualization and application performance issues
- Document all systems, applications and security configurations
- Provide technical leadership to the team
- Perform proactive testing of the disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Evaluate/Recommend new technology to improve the environment
- Participate in a rotating 24x7 on call schedule
Technical/Professional Knowledge/Skills:
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT field
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Linux systems administration in RHEL/CentOS (5.x and 6.x preferred)
- Proficient understanding of Linux security including configuration of IPTables and LDAP integration
- Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated; able to work independently; able to quickly learn new technologies
- Resource should have good knowledge and experience in set up and configuration of products on Windows Azure, programming/scripting for build and deployment automation
- Resource should good knowledge and experience on security of Web applications, Database and Cloud services
- Resource must have experience in debugging and monitoring of applications on Web and Cloud services.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting/resolution skills
- Exposure and familiarity with working in virtualized environments (such as VMware)
- Experienced with and enthusiastic about technologies like:
- RHEL/CentOS
- Tomcat or JBoss
- PowerShell
- Apache
- LDAP
- Puppet/Chef
- nagios
- memcached
- Databases such as MySQL/Oracle
- Scripting (shell/python/ruby preferred)
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure and familiarity with Cognos and/or Oracle Database desired
- Familiarity with Fibre Channel and iSCSI SAN Storage desired
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology/Information Systems or equivalent experience
- Requires a minimum 5 years of Linux systems administration experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working with RHEL/CentOS Linux in a large scale, mission critical, 24x7 environment
- 2+ years of experience with JBoss (preferred) or Tomcat
- Experience and exposure to Puppet or Chef automation tools
- 3+ years of scripting experience with Python / Ruby (preferred) or other scripting
- Experience with enterprise software environments (SaaS and/or PaaS) is strongly preferred
Azure deployment/operations background would be a plus
