Position Description:
This candidate will be working as a business/systems analyst within the Unified Communications & Conferencing (UCC) product space and supporting a suite of product systems utilizing extensive technical analysis and engineering skills to drive overall software solution design that meets business requirements.
This position serves as a liaison between the business stakeholders and the technical software development engineers, providing advisory support on architecture and design issues.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Interfaces with the sponsors, users, and all other stakeholders to determine and understand their business requirements (BREQs) and objectives of new projects and/or work requests.
• Provides cost (labor/hw/sw) estimates for work requested.
• Generates the system requirements (SREQs) based on the BREQs, user's needs, and other constraints such as cost and schedule. Ensures that SREQs are consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined.
• Reviews and/or validates the sponsor's cost-benefit analysis to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf, open source, or already developed components.
• Generates the low-level technical requirements (LLRs) and/or use cases, based on the business needs (BREQs) and the high-level system requirements (SREQs).
• Interfaces with the designers and implementation engineers and architects, so that any problems arising during design, development, or implementation can be resolved in accordance with the fundamental requirements, design concepts, and user needs and constraints.
• Reviews and/or contributes to Interface Control Documents (ICDs), together with the designers and developers of impacted systems, to ensure all of the business and system requirements are met and addressed consistently with the objective of inter-system business continuity.
• Reviews and/or contributes to a testing strategy and/or test plan, together with the designers, test engineers, and the user community, which determine that all of the business and system requirements have been met.
• Provides screen shot prototypes, training, and/or demos (in conjunction with designers, developers, test engineers) to keep the users and sponsors up to date and in agreement on the system as it is evolving.
• Ensures that all living documents with business/system analyst are maintained in the most current state and never allowed to become obsolete.
• Reviews new security policies and/or CPIs, together with the designers and developers, to identify impacts and/or new requirements for our systems.
Required Skills:
- Must have the ability to solicit, document, and analyze business requirements in order to identify IT solutions to the business need.
- Experience in working with application designers to ensure accurate translations of business requirements into detailed IT technical specifications.
- Ability to lead business process mapping, business process improvement, and change management activities in support of a cross-functional global products and architectures.
- Ability to drive best-practice architecture decisions for optimized flow-through and system performance.
- Sets IT work priorities; ensures alignment of business needs with organizational objectives and resource availability.
- Actively engages the business to understand opportunities; builds strong partnerships in support of business and IT strategic plans.
- Must have established credibility through consistent delivery of quality IT services and is sought out as a Subject Matter Expert by business stakeholders and IT peers.
- Must provide accurate and timely management/executive level status updates and reports.
- Supports continuous improvement and incorporates lessons learned in planning for future IT and related system work.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline (i.e. MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics/Analysis, Communications).
2. Minimum seven years of related experience in IT business analysis or IT solutions consulting.
3. Minimum four years of experience in UCC, Advanced Voice, or VoIP.
4. Proven IT architecture and software design skills.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills and team building skills.
6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
7. Demonstrated and effective business analysis and problem solving skills are required.
8. Ability to successfully manage shifting priorities with dynamic business needs that can change daily.
9. Proven success to manage multiple projects and software releases to meet service delivery, marketing, and engineering needs that are often highly visible to executive management.
10. Strong technical, business, and process aptitude to assist in process improvements for the overall organization
11. Experience working with cross functional groups and/or virtual teams with varied backgrounds, cultures and paradigms.
Desired / Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ability to support 24 x 7 systems - Flexibility in hours including some nights and weekends.
2. Excellent multi-tasking skills including supporting of email, calls and chat simultaneously.
3. Experience in coaching, development, and leading of multi-person teams is desired.
4. Exceptional time management and organizational skills
5. Functions with a high degree of independence and latitude to provide technical guidance to project teams.
6. Occasional business travel to 20% to other Client sites may be required for the position.
