General Job Description and Requirements:
Developing cost effective information technology solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications that are more complex.
Participates in requirements gathering activities.
Reviews systems under development and related documentation.
Creates more complex prototypes.
Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and implements complex software applications.
May coordinate activities of the project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Coaches and mentors other less experienced team members.
Performs cross training and facilitates information sharing among team members.
Collaborates with team members to recommend new software development technologies and development processes.
Designs, develops, implements, documents, and tests changes to an application subsystem.
Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and implements complex software applications.
Creates more complex prototypes and ensures deliverables are high quality and meet user expectations.
Supports system and integration testing activities.
Initiates design reviews for new applications and adheres to software development standards.
Participates in systems planning, scheduling and implementation.
Collaborates with project team to keep projects on schedule by coordinating activities, monitoring project schedules, and costs.
Participates in, leads and mentors others in requirements gathering and functional specification activities.
May assist Functional Analysts in completing deliverables and translates business requirements and functional designs into technical designs.
Assist with development of functional designs and resolving complex design issues.
May act as senior technical expert to consult with and analyze the business needs.
Resolves and helps mitigate production application issues and assists less experienced application developers as needed.
Works with other business and technology teams to support resolution of enduser inquiries.
Contributes to the documentation of production support processes.
Anticipates long term support issues and plans for corrective actions.
May perform root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues.
Working with application development leads, establishes, maintains and ensures compliance with standards for development, testing and documentation.
Specific Requirements:
SAP ESS/MSS, Portal Developer
The SAP Portal Application Developer is responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of the portal applications deployed under NetWeaver 7.1 or higher and ABAP dependencies.
The developer will work closely with business and functional analysts, and peer developers to assess specific requirements and match them to available technical solutions in SAP. The Developer should be able to maintain a thorough understanding of SAP Best practices and Web Development fundamentals while developing or configuring the Portal Applications.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to quickly learn new application systems and technologies.
Knowledge of basic project management framework and methodology.
Strong proficiency in programming languages. Ability to accurately estimate design and development timelines for application components.
Desired and must have requirements:
• 8+ years of experience as SAP ESS/MSS Portal Consultant and should have worked on minimum 2-3 global implementation projects.
• At least 2 full life cycle experience with designing and implementing end-to-end enterprise portal infrastructures with SAP Enterprise Portal 7.1 or higher
• Should have implemented ESS/MSS both in newer versions of SAP R3 (EHP5 and EHP6) and EP.
• Ability to provide Solution design for custom requirements with the latest Business Packages
• In depth understanding and Hands on experience in configuring ESS / MSS for EHP6.
• Global, country specific - ESS/MSS implementation experience
• Develop Portal services as required by other Portal components, services and applications and also create Iviews, Pages, Worksets and Launchpads
• Experience in installation and configuration of business packages, configuration and customization of UWL
• Good Understanding of the User Management Console
• Configure, administer and support SAP Portal systems, responsible for the configuration and connectivity to data providing systems such as ECC
• Identify portal security requirements including creation and enhancements of Roles.
• In-depth working experience in developing custom SAP Enterprise Portal applications using SAPUI5, WebDynpro ABAP, BSP, JSP etc
• Strong SAP ABAP development experience in SAP HR PA, OM, ESS and MSS modules in SAP ECC 6 environment is required.
• Ability to develop highly complex SAP objects using OO techniques in SAP HR module.
• SAP Development experience of Web Dynpro ABAP using FPM is required
• Good working experience with SAP Portal themes, layouts, and desktops using Theme Editor to support custom branding and company specifications.
• Experience developing HTML5 applications on SAP NetWeaver Gateway services using the SAP UI5 Development tools and integrate with SAP Portal.
• Strong web development experience with HTML 5, CSS3, JavaScript, and AJAX with excellent knowledge of JQuery is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge with Web Services, XML, Data (Open Data) Protocol, Data Access, and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)
• Excellent presentation and communications skills are a must.
• Must be experienced in talking and working with technology management as well as business analyst and managers
