Description:
Teradata DBA Responsibilities:
Ø Ability to take on responsibilities as a Teradata engineer with administration duties, coordinate patch upgrades with the vendors and participates in the disaster recovery exercises.
Ø Experience managing multi-terabyte applications.
Ø Ability to take ownership of performance tuning opportunities, deploy various optimization methods to mitigate risks to performance and communicate them to the team.
Ø Strong communicator who can collaborate with ETL, reporting teams
Ø Ability to define/modify workload management standards (workload groups, throttles, priorities etc.) based on the needs of the day in production and explains the changes effectively to the team.
Ø Able to perform security audits, which includes designing and implementing roles, profiles and accounts.
Ø Able to create stored procedures to support the continued functioning of the Teradata data warehouse.
Ø Work collaboratively with the database operations team and the vendor to resolve incidents and mitigate risks.
Required Skills:
Ø Minimum of 7 years' experience as a Teradata DBA/Engineer.
Ø Minimum of 5 years performance optimization techniques and SQL related to teradata.
Ø Minimum of 5 years of Teradata Tools and Utilities experience, pertaining to ETL and BI tools.
Ø Must have working knowledge of the newer Teradata versions (13 and later)
Ø Must have hardware and software upgrade experience with TD 14 or higher version
Ø In-depth knowledge of Teradata ViewPoint and TASM feature set
Ø In-depth knowledge of Teradata BAR using NetBackup and TARA GUI
Ø Experience or understanding with DataStage ETL and OBIEE reporting (in conjunction with Teradata) is preferred
