Software Engineer
6 mo contract
Deliverables:
- Support Vendor applications Saba Learning Management System and Pedagogue. Support custom Learning Management Reporting environment.
- Support Oracle and SQL Server code, databases, reports (Microsoft SSRS), and ETL packages (Microsoft SSIS)
- Support customer requested application and report enhancements for ADS supported technologies like ColdFusion, BOE and other Commercial Off the Shelf tools like Kinetic Service Catalog, JIRA, Mainsaver etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support customer requests for application and reporting enhancements in the areas of Oracle, SQL Server, BOE and COTS products like Kinetic Service Catalog, Saba, JIRA, Mainsaver, etc.
- Take ownership of complex technical customer issues and provide development work for a product or product line.
- Work independently to appropriately prioritize assigned workload and backlog; escalate issues to next level that require code interpretation to resolve.
- Analyze logs and relevant data to troubleshoot and recreate customer issues on approved test systems.
- Improve product quality by identifying, fixing, and documenting predominant customer issues which require assessment by the Saba vendor.
- Develop database and reporting solutions to meet the customer needs.
- Coordinate application and technical issue resolution and functionality enhancements between IT and business areas.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Development.
- A team player who is influential and builds good working relationships across all functions.
- Flexibility, integrity and creative problem-solving skills are a pre-requisite to be successful in this role.
- Ability to quickly learn technologies like .Net, SharePoint, Groovy/Grails etc. as needed.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask effectively and work well under pressure.
Technical Requirements:
- Experience with supporting Saba v5 environments.
- Deep knowledge of Saba Prescriptive Rules, configurations and deployments, including but limited to Scheduled/Triggered processes
- Experience with Unix and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience with RDBMS and SQL programming like Oracle and MS SQL Server.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Java and J2EE applications
- Experience with Application Server and Web server technology like Jboss, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, IIS, Tomcat/Apache.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid background and proficiency in programming languages and tools.
- Experience in various IT regulatory and compliance standards.
- Experience with languages/APIs/frameworks
- Strong preference for candidates with significant experience in any of the following areas:
- Saba LMS
- ASP.NET MVC
- Grails
- Microsoft IIS
- SQL*Server
- BOE
- Open Source Software / tools used in Application Development
- Kinetic Service Catalog
- JIRA
- Knowledge of SQL/SQR or crystal report writing skills a plus.
