Position: Information Security Consultant

Location: Dallas, TX

Duration: 6 months+

 

Responsibilities:

• Functions as a technical expert to the Information Security staff.
• Assist with the planning, design, and implementation of security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, Virtual Private Networks, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability scanners, policy compliance software, security information management systems, proxy servers, etc
• Assist in the development, implementation, enforcement and maintenance of the system security policy standards, guidelines and procedures.
• Assist in evaluating the impact to security of requests for new systems or changes to existing systems.
• Ensure appropriate risk acceptances are addressed and documented.
• Periodically review platforms, databases, and applications to ensure security compliance.
• Work with system owners to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of information residing in government databases, workstations, servers, or being transmitted over the network. Provide operational support for application and user access security efforts.
• Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts
• Acts as a focal point in tracking problems and establishing trends for security monitoring.
• Participates in project planning; determines project needs in advance and establishes the appropriate timeline to complete projects on time.
• Analyzes and monitors systems/network workload and security standards adherence, making recommendations to resolve problems.
• Keeps current on present and future technologies.
• Performs Secure Design Reviews on all major product releases
• Manages Application Scanning Program

Qualifications

• CISSP preferred.
• Data Center and infrastructure build-out experience a plus.
• Strong customer focus; sense of urgency and flexible to changing circumstances and customer needs.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; must posses a high level of teamwork skills.
