 DATA ANALYST

Baltimore, MD

 

Summary

This position is responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of data to improve compliance and overall business practices.

 

Organization

This position reports to the Director Data Management and interfaces with IT staff and business partners.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

•             Responsible for direct interaction with Business System Analysts, DBA and Business partners to gain a thorough understanding of the data being requested

•             Responsible for mapping requested data fields from Third Party Systems to company data structures

•             Responsible for the creation of data field conversions from Third Party Systems to company definitions

•             Responsible for working directly with the third party data staff to develop the requested data interfaces.

•             Responsible for testing the data received from the Third Party Systems for accuracy of format and conversion definitions

•             Responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation and summarization of data in the generation of reports for business partners

•             Designs and or develops database objects (databases, tables, stored procedures, DTS Packages) to support the collection, tracking and reporting of business data.

•             Uses automated tools such as SAS, Business Objects, Crystal Reports to develop reports

•             Analyze reports, data, systems recommending solutions to keep the data correct in real time

•             Facilitate the secure movement of data files to designated locations

•             Work with the Program and Relationship Management teams to manage customer expectations of delivery timelines and quality of data

•             Identify methods to improve the efficiency of data turnaround time

•             Maintain the physical and electronic security of files

•             Utilize problem solving skills to identify and resolve issued pertaining to data quality

 

Experience and Education Requirements

•             College degree preferred; can be offset by years of experience in data analysis or systems analysis

•             4+ years experience in SSIS/ETL, data analytics and reporting

•             Experienced with data warehousing, data marts and dashboards

•             Experienced with MS SQL and Oracle

•             Experienced with SAS, Business Objects or Crystal Reports, etc.

•             Communicates effectively

•             Financial Services experience a plus

 

Skills and Abilities

•             Strong knowledge of and experience with SSIS/ETL

•             Strong knowledge of data warehousing and data marts

•             Familiar with Master Data Management and Big Data concepts

•             Ability to incorporate Social Media unstructured data

•             Familiar with Dashboard reporting

•             Extensive use of reporting tools (SAS, Business Objects, Crystal, etc.)

•             Good knowledge of MS SQL and Oracle

•             Familiar with encryption techniques

•             Demonstrated experience retrieving data from relational database systems and creating summary results

•             Experienced in consolidating data from multiple sources

•             Strong ability to analyze, research, query and report on large data sets

•             Demonstrated experience in analysis, preparation and presentation of data

•             Superior customer service and communication skills

•             Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and manage time accordingly

•             Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills to identify and resolve data issues

•             Familiar with data security concepts and techniques and testing layers
