Job Description:
The basic function of the pharmacist is (1) review and complete criteria based prior authorization as per policy and procedure, (2) provide on-call after hours pharmacist availability for urgent PA requests and (3) provide internal pharmacist support to the PA team and member services department.
CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ON WEEKEND ROTATION SCHEDULE 1 WEEKEND A MONTH.
These candidates need to have VALID Pharmacy License, registered in the state of Texas and in good standing. They will not handle drugs but instead work on the phones assisting with Prior Authorizations.
The Pharmacist will be responsible for reviewing Prior Authorization and medication exception requests. Will provide guidance to the PA Specialists regarding case evaluation criteria; and will serve as a clinical resource to the department as needed. This position will include completing data analysis and various clinical projects.
Will be responsible for reviewing Prior Authorization/Exception requests and performing Misc. data analysis, clinical projects and serve as the primary clinical resource for prior authorizations.
• Clinical pharmacist with experience in medication review, patient counseling and identification of drug-related problems• Outstanding written and communication skills required • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail necessary• Experience with Microsoft applications required
