Through 12/31/2014
Conference Call Notes:
· This will be an international testing position
· Needs to be able to work with offshore teams (India)
· Will create test plan/ cases
· No advanced SQL is required
· Virtual experience, test manager is required
· TFS (Team Foundation Server)- required for bug tracking
· Will write manual test cases, automation will be done offshore
· Contract only- C2C would probably be the best route
Notes:
-position does not require advance technical knowledge. just need someone who can work with India, delegate work and investigate issues working with developers in San Diego.
-experience with Int'l software testing
-Strong knowledge of database backend testing and hands-on developing complex SQL queries a plus so skills can transfer to other projects
-UI, functional testing, Work Flow, and user case testing required
I. Department Overview:
As part of Quality Assurance and Regulatory organization, the Software Quality Engineering department provides independent software verification and validation services to assure the quality of software products prior to manufacture and/or customer release. Department team members work as a team to assure quality compliance by following the business unit's Standard Operation Procedures and Work Instructions. Processes are derived from FDA guiding principles for verifying and validating medical device software.
II. Purpose:
Provide independent verification of software products that have been developed according to pre-approved software design requirements and specifications. Independently develops, maintains and executes test cases both manual and automated. Discovers, documents and tracks software defects in a bug database. Plans and implements the setup of test environments to perform functional testing of integrated software and hardware in a lab setting. Facilitates the core project team to ensure all facets of software product testing is accomplished within project timelines.

III. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

1. Software test planning – strategize and document test approach, techniques 20%
2. Software test case development, SQL query development – design and maintain test cases from requirements and specifications 20%
3. Software test execution – run test cases and document test execution status 20%
4. Troubleshoot and debug defects with development teams 20%
5. Product documentation review and analysis – user needs, requirements, and design documents, user manuals 10%
6. Test environment – plan and implement test hardware and software environments 5%
7. Attend cross-functional project team meetings 5%
IV. Position Requirements:
Education or Equivalent:.
4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience or Equivalent:.
Minimum five (5) years formal software test experience
Certified Software Quality Engineering – ASQ certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
• Knowledge of Agile methodology. Ability to provide task estimation based on user stories.
• Knowledge of software quality engineering and testing methods at all levels (unit, integration, system, V&V, acceptance) applied within the software development lifecycle.
o Applies working knowledge of software quality concepts within the software development lifecycle
o Knowledge of systems analysis, requirements and spec analysis, functional design and architecture interpretation.
• Ability to apply and use software quality tools for test case management, test automation, and defect tracking management.
o Experience using Visual Studio/TFS, Test Manager, CodedUI
o Make recommendations for improvement to tools
• Ability to understand end user and product usage scenarios for use in the design and conduct of software testing.
o Basic familiarity of application domain or functional areas of system
o Applies basic knowledge of end user to evaluate usability of applications
• Ability to understand and apply software development methods, standards, and regulations (i.e. FDA CFR).
o Applies in-depth working understanding of standards and methods to comply/enforce the standards in day to day tasking.
• Ability to develop and conduct various forms of user-focused, system-level verification and validation (V&V) testing.
o Executes complex test cases/scripts and interprets/analyzes results to report, communicate, and work through issues with software engineers
o Interprets product design and requirements to engineer test approach and generates test plans and test
o Takes on primary ownership for testing of certain area(s) of a system
• If appropriate to the individual assignment, ability to apply understanding of software development methods and programming to develop test harnesses and perform component-level or embedded testing.
o Conducts complex black box, system-level, functional and inter-operability testing
o Creates basic test plans for white box testing
o Develops white box test harnesses and tests
o Can apply working understanding of the inter-workings of a section or component of the application code under test
o Participates in code reviews
o Can develop source code (minimum of one language applicable to development environment) as well as do scripting
