Technical Writer
Location: Basking Ridge NJ or Ashburn VA (Local)
Duration:5+Months
Summary
The candidate will be responsible for the creation, support and maintenance of documentation stored primarily on an in-house wiki.
The documentation artifacts include written information, process flows and diagrams, and code samples. Portions of the documentation are geared toward highly technical users, while other portions are geared toward non-technical users. An ideal candidate has a technical background that enables him or her to easily interact with software developers, and cross functional teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Write and maintain a broad range of technical documents including API documentation, user and administrative guides, operations and procedures documents
• Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others, and coach non-writers on ways to improve their writing skills
• Create, update and maintain wiki-based documentation
• Manage documentation projects
Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a technical writer
• BA/BS degree required
• Proven experience writing both user guides and procedures documents
• Experience working directly with development teams
• Provision of sample written materials and/or a portfolio
Desirable
• Experience with source control
• Experience using SharePoint
• Experience using Atlassian toolset (for example, JIRA, Confluence)
• Self-starter attitude with ability to execute on deadlines
• Impeccable communication style – both written and verbal
