Cloud Engineer

1 Year

 

We are in need of a Cloud Operations Engineer for the new BestBuy.com search platform.

 

Please submit answers to the following questions with all submittals:

1.  Based on your experience, what are the benefits and downfalls of infrastructure automation?  Should the entire process be automated?

2.  What do you feel is the most efficient way to investigate production problems?

3.  What are some examples of how you might scale a read or write heavy application?

4.  How do you keep up with emerging trends, tools, and technologies?

 

Description of Responsibilities:

·       Manage the day to day infrastructure for numerous BestBuy.com sites.  This position focuses on our new search platform in the cloud backed by Solr.

·       Time is split between helping business groups and performing technical tasks.  You will be required to represent the Cloud Operations team in business meetings.

Technical Tasks:

* Managing infrastructure across multiple cloud providers

* Utilize Opscode Chef for infrastructure automation

* Setting up alerts / monitors with Splunk and Graphite

* Managing applications such as Tomcat, Apache and Solr

* Other System Administration tasks as needed

* This position is part of a 24/7 on-call rotation for the Cloud Operations team

MUST HAVE

* Experience in Linux System Administration

* Experience with Tomcat, Apache, Solr

* Experience working with cloud providers

* Self-starter – has a passion for technology and works well in a team
