Job Responsibilities: 

 

Position Duties: 
The Category Analyst is responsible for supporting the Walmart Category Management Team by leveraging data and insights to drive category growth. 

Key Responsibilities: 
• Understands and applies Customer, Consumer and Industry insights using IRI data, Household Panel, Spectra and other market research data (Shopper/Consumer research, Assortment studies) to deliver category growth. 
• Assists in gathering data necessary for the weekly/monthly Wal-Mart category reports for buyer. 
• Supports Category Managers and Walmart buyers during modular Relay process. 
• Performs high level, in depth analyses using Retail Link and syndicated data. 
• Provides analysis of competitive promotion plans/activity and recommends defensive promotional strategies, where needed. 
• Measures performance and impact of initiatives. Communicates results effectively to Walmart buyers and internal category management team. 
• Provides support as needed for quarterly business reviews– provides national Brand/Category insights. 


Position Qualifications: 
• 4-year college degree. 
• 2+ years experience and proven knowledge/understanding of Retail Link, Syndicated Data: Nielsen, Panel and Spectra. 
• Advanced ProSpace and Access experience preferred 
• Must be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills and enjoy data analysis. 
• Ability to independently conduct in-depth data analysis AND use the data to develop strong category growth stories. 
• Strong oral, written communication and presentation skills. 
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to successfully multi-task. 
• Good interpersonal and time management skills. 
• Must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
