RASC Developer

RASC Developer (SAP Developer)

 

The RASC (Reporting Analytic Support Capability) Developer will be responsible for enabling Best Buy to convert data to information to drive growth, margin improvement, and increased productivity.  This person will become intimately familiar with information needs in all functional areas (e.g. Retail Stores, Finance, Demand Planning, Merchandising, Emerging Businesses, Supply Chain, etc.) and will match these needs with optimal technical solutions that either leverage existing data sources or integrate into existing delivery vehicles. 

 

The candidate will lead in complex technical/business assignments to develop functional requirements/ specifications, prepare execution plans, identify opportunities and lead the deployment of reporting and analytic systems related projects.  This person will also work with Reporting, Analytics, and Infrastructure Teams as well as Accenture and Wipro to share best practices and techniques, plan, scope, track, test, deploy, and implement projects. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, flexible, organized, intuitive and technically well versed in the area of information delivery.

 

A RASC Developer will be responsible for technical leadership and mentoring to the RASC team to develop and expand their technical, reporting, and analytic skills/tools within the SAP technical footprint.  

 

Business Analysis

·       Data mine, code, document, test and debug reporting and analysis using standard tools including but not limited to Office Suite, MS Access, SQL, SAP BI, SAP Business Objects, other Business Intelligence tools.  All development must be performed within communicated service levels and department standards.

·       Identify, document, ideate and analyze business outcomes and be able to respond to all data inquiries and questions as they pertain to business outcomes by navigating through multiple data systems (SAP BI, SAP Business Objects, Electronic Journal, SAP ECC).

·       Understand the business functions and needs for information -Utilizing strong analytical skills to provide real solutions for both technical and business related issues associated with the implementation of decision support and business intelligence applications

 

  

Development/Project Management

·       Leading user requirements working sessions in which the responsibilities include:

o   Business and technical requirements definition, consultation with others to identify new projects and enhancements and estimate efforts associated with new projects/reporting and implementing new enhancements into an existing application/reporting or new application/reporting

·       Leading and developing high level and detailed design and creation of technical strategies and requirements for data architecture for reporting and analysis projects

·       Ability to take ownership of assignments and deliver within a cost effective and timely manner

·       Become the champion for delivering timely solutions for leveraging information to make critical business decisions

·       Deliver Business Intelligence projects in a rapidly changing business climate

·       Creates new ways of solving problems and improving efficiencies

·       Perform query development work using BEx Query Designer and User Exit modifications

·       Participating in evaluating new technologies to ensure the advancement of data and technology architecture within RASC Business Intelligence needs

·       Develop and foster productive relationships with business stakeholders.

·       Ensure effective and efficient business processes in partnership with other reporting teams

 

The Developer should have a strong sense of procedure and policy to maintain a consistent product.  The reporting and applications that they create should have a common look and feel as well as consistent navigation and workflow.  As the products we release are often utilized across the entire organization, this is key in maintaining proper branding and quality assurance. 

 

Maintenance

·       Support multiple teams with on demand support for existing reporting, tools, and data sources to support a rapid changing business.

 

The Developer will also be required to directly support the applications and reporting that RASC creates.  This will require strong communication skills and an aptitude for business and technical writing.  The technical expertise level of the customers RASC supports varies greatly, so the analyst will need to be able to identify the audience and communicate with the appropriate level of detail and recurrence.

·       Must demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate the other analysts on the team

·       Must be able to effectively present the teams project status and work benefit to executive leadership, and be comfortable speaking to groups.

·       Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize, work independently and with moderate direction.

·       Must also be able to communicate effectively in oral and written formats.

·       Must be able to navigate within the organization. (organizational agility)

·       Must be able to demonstrating a creative approach to solving business problems

·       Must be proficient at building close working relationships with business partners / customers

·       Must demonstrate an ability to contribute to the development and maintenance of project plans, development of systems specifications and designs

·       Must have the ability to demonstrate process improvement that generate efficiencies, effectiveness and cost savings

·       Proficient in developing business intelligence solutions for performance management activities

·       Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills

·       Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities

·       Excellent verbal and written communications skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively

·       Experience integrating BI platforms with web based reporting/corporate portals

·       Retail domain experience
