Sr.Network Engineer
Location: Colorado Springs - CO
Duration:12+Months

Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications.
Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks.
Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

Principal responsibilities include implementation of network upgrades at internal company transmission facilities.
Successful candidate will work with engineering to develop design solutions and on site technicians plan successful equipment replacement projects and host migrations.
Perform configuration, testing and related issue resolution troubleshooting necessary to place new VMN network infrastructure equipment in service. Implement configuration changes, testing and issue resolution troubleshooting necessary to support VMN approved network plans and or engineering design guidance documents on existing operational VMN network infrastructure equipment.
The configuration and testing will occur at the access, distribution and core layers of the network.
Provide support for all implementation related changes to other VMN departments and the user community affected by those changes.
Completion of configuration changes during the established company Safetime maintenance windows is required.


Required Skills and Experience
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification and five years relevant experience or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification and ten years relevant experience.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to multi-task and simultaneously balance multiple priorities.
Problem solving and troubleshooting experience.

Detail oriented. Knowledge and Skills
Candidate should possess commensurate knowledge and skills in a wide range of technical areas required to make configuration changes and troubleshoot issues on the company's internal management networks using Cisco routers and switches.
This includes subnetting, route summarization, static routing, RIP version 2, BGP, IBGP, EBGP, OSPF (multiple and single areas), ISIS, MPLS, EIGRP, VLANs, VLAN Trunks, inter-VLAN routing, STP, Ether Channel, LISP and CDP.
