Position Description:

This position will require strong IBM TSM and AIX software skills. The technician must know how to control and schedule reclamation and tape library functions. The technician must know how to add and remove devices, tape, tape libraries, servers, etc. Needs experience creating and modifying backup policies. Must be good at mentoring and working with team members.

Background: (Description of role, responsibilities, and type of deliverables within the project or group)
| Primary Responsibilities: · Maintain a large TSM backup environment consisting of several servers. · Review existing TSM environment and make recommendations for improvements. · Cross train existing staff in the proper maintenance and tuning for the TSM system. · Produce a report making recommendations for process improvement
Required Skills / Experience: · Strong technical acumen · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills · Ability to work independently, manage tasks to timely completion and appropriately escalate issues as required. · 5+ years proven knowledge and experience with IBM TSM including versions 5 and 6. · 5+ years proven knowledge and experience with IBM AIX set up, maintenance and scripting
Desired Skills / Technologies: · Experience with installing and maintaining IBM TSM · Experience with installing and maintaining IBM TSM for ACS · Experience installing and maintaining IBM's reporting tools for TSM. |
