POSITION DESCRIPTION
The position of Storage Consultant will be responsible for day to day operational support of both SAN/NAS. This person must be able to work independently and provide hardware, software, application, and limited network support for production and non-production environments. This person will also be able lead small projects, deal with vendors, investigate and analyze problems, and be able to do training sessions with internal teams when required.
POSITION DETAILS:
Responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas:
· Strong knowledge (5-10 yrs experience) of Storage internals and architecture
· Minimum 5 years or proven working knowledge with the following:
o Hitachi SAN technology including 9585, AMS500, AMS1000, AMS2500, USP-V, VSP
o Brocade switches (DCX, 48000, 5300) plus knowledge of DCFM management software
o Hitachi HDLM, Tuning Manager, USP/VSP virtualization of external storage
· Minimum 2 years or proven working knowledge with the following:
o Netapp NAS arrays including FAS3XXX and V3XXX filers
o Netapp ONTAP 7.x and 8.x
o Netapp SnapMirror, Ops Manager (DFM), Systems Manager
o Proven performance troubleshooting experience
o CIFS/NFS protocols
· Some working knowledge of the following would be helpful:
o Windows 2000/2003, Redhat Linux, Solaris, AIX
o EMC Celerra NAS hardware plus replication knowledge
o 3PAR SAN including S800 and/or S400 models
o HP SAN hardware including XP 12K, XP 10K
o HP Performance Advisor
o Hitachi Tiered Storage Manager (HDT)
o Windows and/or Linux scripting experience
· Participate in on-demand cross-training initiatives and in-house training programs to further the knowledge of all IT engineering professionals within the Global Technology Services organization
· Demonstrate strong proficiency in written and verbal communications
· Demonstrate strong leadership skills
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The level of education and training for the Systems Administrative Consultant will require the following level of education, training, or years of professional service in the related industry.
· Bachelor of Science degree with at least 5+ years of Information Technology experience
· 3 to 5 years of recent hands on Storage experience with multiple storage technologies in complex tiered environments
· Professional certifications:
o HP XP SAN hardware
o Hitachi AMS500, AMS1000, 9585 SAN hardware
o Brocade storage switches including Brocade DCX/48000's/5300's
o Storage Essentials software
o Hitachi storage software
