Sr. Software Engineer
3+ Month Contract
Position Overview (Overall objectives for the position; what you want the person to accomplish in the job):
Thomson Reuters Indices development team is looking for Lead Software Engineer to drive development of custom and propreitary indices.
Essential Responsibilities (Specific day-to-day responsibilities and milestones needed to achieve the objectives):
• Drive innovation by designing/developing or evaluating/integrating new tools and methods that will enable index technology to achieve its deliverables with increased efficiency. Lead and/or participate in efforts for ongoing support and maintenance of existing applications.
• Responsibilities include:
• Requirements gathering, system design, development of solutions, documentation, unit test, implementation, and maintenance of software projects.
• Prioritizing tasks, providing estimates and statuses to management, and managing project schedules.
• Identify and lead and/or participate in the resolution of issues with the appropriate technical and business resources.
• Proactively seek opportunities to add value through the application of new technology solutions.
• Demonstrate self-directed and proactive approach to tackling problems and leveraging resource.
• Assist in identifying cost-savings opportunities and implement alternative approaches including process improvement initiatives or technology solutions to automate processes
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience (must have) ( Specific skills and/or experience needed, plus associated number of years):
Minimum of 5 years industry related software development experience with C#, .NET.
Minimum of 3 years working with database technologies (preferably SQL Server).
Minimum of 5 year of web application development, XML processing experience or C++ experience
Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong bias for action, high personal integrity, willingness to take intelligent risks, and dedication to continuous improvement
Hands-on experience with index calculations, index construction and maintenance
Desired Skills and Experience (nice to have) (Specific skills and/or experience desired, plus associated number of years:
Expertise in financial services and admin related activities.
Development experience with object oriented technologies or .NET
Education / Certifications Required (Specific degrees and/or certifications required or preferred):
4 years of technical degree or equivalent - Bachelors Degree in Engineering (computer science or equivalent)
