Job Description
    
Primary responsibility for resolving incidents and problems, establishing and executing services around production support and assisting the Lead Support Engineer in maturing the environment to manage pro-active monitoring and alerting. Provides technical services and support to internal and external clients, while being a significant contributor to the BITS Technical Services Team. Is knowledgeable and proficient in multiple technologies. Is capable of learning a new business application quickly from a technical perspective (i.e.: Components, integration). Supports the application and components of client-facing devices. Has primary responsibility for resolving incidents and problems to prevent or address systems issues and performance crunches. Works with internal and external clients and consultants, including business managers, project managers, software engineers, security analysts, system engineers and technical architects, to diagnose and fix bugs. Develops, documents and supports processes and methodologies that meet BITS commitment to service excellence. Plans capacity, scales, services, and drives root cause analysis and fixes for BITS distributed computing systems. Supports internal and external customers on complex technical issues, such as day end processing, system issues, etc. Develops program utilities to automate processes and ensure that banking infrastructures operate effectively. Develops and mentors others within the BITS organization.

Qualifications:

• Combination of education and experience, generally acquired through the attainment of education and experience of a 2 year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline  
• 5 - 7 years professional experience in system and application support 
• 3+ years of experience with vendor application support optimizations and monitoring 
• 3+ years of supporting extremely high volume, high availability applications and systems. 
• Strong understanding of Microsoft, VMware operating system, storage solutions, networking, security and web servers. 
• Demonstrated experience in transitioning developed or purchased applications into the support environment. 
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with software, operations and engineering and articulate business needs within the technical support area. 
• Good understanding of application testing and analysis strategies. 
• Broad knowledge of common applications and technologies in Internet computing, including web servers, app servers, database servers, load balancers, etc. 

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 year degree in Computer Science 
• Microsoft and/or Cisco certification
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements 

Experience administering a disaster recovery plan and understanding of banking
