DW Project Manager

12 mo contract

Responsibilities:

 

1.       Provide technical project management leadership for Data Warehouse application development projects in Development & Support.   Projects involve a collaborative work environment, and iterative development with a high level of team interaction.

2.       Partner with Business to support the analysis and lead the development team in the design and implementation of the rewrite of the Data Warehouse reports from SQL Server to Oracle.

3.       Provide direction to system analysts, developers, and/or engineers regarding the development, administration, configuration, and/or implementation of automated solutions for existing and new systems.

4.       Identify and analyze operational impacts of new projects, services, infrastructure, enterprise information systems, and/or automated systems. Address the most complex customer problems and/or issues as necessary.

5.       Responsible for planning, estimating, tracking, and reporting status on tasks.

6.       Work closely with technical leads, project managers, and upper management to identify dependencies, coordinate project plans, escalate risks and issues, and report on status and progress for each project.

7.       Facilitate communication between groups within Development & Support, as well as with other groups across the System.  Work closely with these groups as they:

·         Define business and technical requirements

·         Develop high-level and detailed architectures and designs

·         Implement the system with the required tools and technologies

·         Test the completed components

8.       Provides input to the development and implementation of standards, procedures, and safeguards.

9.       Assist in prioritizing when key architectural decisions need to be made to avoid delays for the teams.

10.   Proactive communication with team members and management is essential as some key tasks may include issue identification and resolution, status updating, analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions, etc

11.   Assist in the identification and support of data provisioning to support a dimensional model.

12.   Communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

13.   Provide input to the development and implementation of standards, procedures and safeguards.

14.   Assist in providing data provisioning to support a dimensional model.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

The person selected will be part of a team responsible for developing the next generation of Data Warehouse functionality.  The person must have experience as both a developer and a project manager, possess superlative interpersonal and communication skills, and be an effective team player.  Additional skills and experience include:

 

1.       Six or more years of technical project management experience leading teams of 5 – 10+ develops, including demonstrated skill in planning, estimating, and tracking, as well as in making recommendations for adjusting project plans as needed.

2.       Experience in leadership role on large, multi-year, platform replacement and infrastructure projects.

3.       Experience resolving complex system problems in a team setting, including evaluation of options to determine optimal solution.

4.       Demonstrated experience implementing solutions requiring complex technologies in an enterprise environment requiring integration between the mainframe and distributed platforms.

5.       Requires eight years or more of information services experience to include five years application development experience in a Data Warehouse environment.

6.       Requires six years with data warehouse design, tools and methodologies

7.       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  1. Strong conflict resolution skills using a win/win approach.
  2. Communicates proactively in a project environment with colleagues and management on a wide variety of project issues.  Key skills include issue identification and resolution, status updating, and analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions.
  3. Communicates effectively on complex technical matters to non-technical audiences, including the business community.  Communications could include presentations, documentation, memos, etc.

 

Deliverables:

 

1.       Project management deliverables, including release plans, iteration plans, task lists, issues, risks, status reports, etc.

2.       Development milestones completed in a timeframe consistent with the project road map and project plans.

3.       Ongoing input to the project leadership teams on critical tasks and/or issues.

4.       Management of the completion of Software Development Framework (SDF) artifacts and adherence to the Technical Project System Operations
