Sr. Software Engineers

3 Month Contract

 

Summary: Responsible for the design, development and testing of operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for computing applications.

We pair program. What is your experience/exposure/knowledge with paired programming? Please give pros and cons.

When you're developing a solution (code), how do you decide "when it's good enough"?

How often would you do refactoring? Assume you have the power to decide; what criteria will drive your decision?

How do you keep current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the software industry?

When do you automate and when might it be wrong to automate?

 

Additional Job Details

In this role, they will be a critical member of the team building the foundation for Best Buy's next generation web platform responsible for:

·       Developing OO apps ... looking for Ruby or Java experience

·       Aggressive Refactoring

·       Infrastructure automation

·       SDLC Tooling

·       High comfort level with Unix, OO, & SOA design

·       Comfortable contributing to agile team cadence

Must Have:

·       At least five years of relevant systems software eng. experience

·       Experience with large scale distributed systems

·       Agile development with OO programming & experience with Design Patterns

·       Test Driven development and Test Automation experience

·       Extensive Unix/Linux command line knowledge •

·       Experience Pair Programming

Nice to Have:  

·       Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (Rackspace, Google App Engine, Hadoop)

·       Infrastructure Automation experience

·       Ruby scripting experience

·       REST webservices experience  

·       Opscode Chef experience

·       OpenStack experience
