 Data Architect

Duration:  6-12 months

Minneapolis, MN

Contract 

 

Job Responsibilities: 
Research and develop backend enhancements related to the following areas: ETL, SQL Server Transactional Replication, query optimization, and application of schema changes to live production sites.  Background or industry experience within Retail is a plus.  Must have exceptional communication skills since they will be leading others and directly engaging with the end client.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Come up to speed on product database architecture.
2. Research and develop alternatives to SQL Server's Transactional Replication with Immediate Update (deprecated by Microsoft)
3. Research and develop use of covering indexes and other similar strategies to assist in optimizing various reports
4. Research and document techniques to support application ETL language.

5. Coordinate work effort and communicate progress daily with development lead or manager.
6. Work closely with Development, Operations, and QA to ensure features are implemented per requirements

Required Skills/Education Requirement:
1. BS in Computer Science or related
2. 8 years of development or DBA experience minimum
3. Excellent communication skills
4. Good experience with SQL Server, query optimization, DDL
5. Excellent SQL skills

Desired Skill Set:

1. Familiarity with C#
2. Familiarity with SQL Server replication
3. Team Foundation Server (TFS)
4. Object oriented design (OOD)
