Job Description:
Cisco Engineer - Network Engineer - LAN/WAN Engineer
Network Engineer / Systems Engineer Needed for Public sector account. For this opportunity, you will be a Network Engineer or Systems Engineer who has strong Cisco routers and switch background,
Responsibilities of the WAN Engineer include the following:
o VPN Router configuration and troubleshooting including LDAP and firewall functions
o Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues as required.
o The WAN Engineer has ownership for resolving problems handed down from the Help Desk, and enlists support, as necessary, from other individuals on the WAN, LAN, UNIX, or Desktop teams having special expertise.
o Provide Root Cause Analysis by determining the cause of a problem and providing a documented resolution.
o Resolving faults that could affect the customer or taking the actions necessary to resolve faults identified in the Root Cause Analysis Process.
o Reporting on network performance as needed
o In depth working knowledge of TCP/IP, SSH, FTPs/ sFTP, SNMP, SSL, DNS, VPN, VOIP, DHCP, standard routing protocols and various circuit technologies.
o Experience setting up circuits/ remote site connectivity in conjunction with 3rd party providers (AT&T/ Verizon/ Level-3, etc.), including network redundancy and capacity planning, monitoring, and recommendations.
o Preferred understanding of MPLS network topology/ environments.
o Hands-on experience with establishing VPN connectivity (to 3rd party clients/ service providers preferred), as well as remote access setup
Qualifications:
o Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCVP
o 6 years minimum IT networking experience
o A strong working knowledge of IP addressing and networking, including OSPF, is required.
o A working knowledge of Windows server and UNIX/Linux operations is desirable.
o Valid driver's license and vehicle access
o Very strong Cisco Routing and Switch / Data Networking skills
Extensive experience in Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies
Experience in LAN, WAN, WLAN implementations
- Ability to be on call for 24/7 support is required
Multiple skill sets required
- Experience with Infoblox implementation and administration
- Experience with Juniper SSL-VPN configuration, administration
- F5 Big IP configuration and administration
- Experience with VMware networking environments
- Cisco – ACS administration
- Strong background in Nortel/Avaya 8600 and 5500 series platform a plus
