J2EE Developer

Responsibilities:
1. Will join the Web development team, with focus on JEE suites of applications. Work environment includes pair programming, collaborative work environment, and iterative and test driven development with a high level of team interaction.
2. Primary responsibility will be development on our Information and transaction services applications, including the development of software on file transport utilities, as project tasks dictate.
3. Develop software on JEE 6 and WebSphere 7.0 platform using Eclipse and Maven development tools. .
4. Responsible for estimating, tracking, and reporting status on tasks.
5. Periodically, be on-call after gaining experience with the systems. On-call responsibility is rotated amongst the team approximately every 2 – 3 months. Payment is made for any time that the consultant actually receives and respond to a call. Calls happen infrequently.
Skills and Experience:
The person selected will be part of a team developing software for our Information and Transaction Services applications and will have experience with designing solutions crossing multiple platforms and technologies. These projects involve taking an existing project plan and requirements and refining both through active communication with others on the team and project management. The person must have demonstrated excellent application programming and testing skills, project planning skills, and superlative interpersonal and communication skills. Specifically:
Required Skills and Experience:
1. 8+ years of information services experience to include 5 years application development and testing experience using JEE technologies in a distributed environment.
2. 5 years experience with object-oriented design.
3. Demonstrated experience and/or willingness to work in a pair programming setting.
4. Experience with test driven development.
5. 5 years UNIX experience.
6. Strong WebSphere development experience with versions 6 and/or 7.
7. Experience with Hibernate and/or JPA.
8. Experience with Struts and/or Wicket framework for UI development.
9. Experience with JavaScript/AJAX frameworks for UI development.
10. Experience with Jasper.
11. Must have experience resolving complex system problems in a team setting, including evaluation of options to determine optimal solution
12. Prefer functional testing experience with a tool like Quick Test Pro.
13. Prefer experience with any of the following tools
· Subversion
· Maven
· Hudson
· Ant
14. Development of detailed project plans from higher levels. Demonstrated skill in estimating and tracking progress of tasks, as well as in making recommendations for adjusting project plans as needed.
15. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
16. Excellent communication skills:
· Communicates proactively in a project environment with colleagues and management on a wide variety of project issues. Key skills include issue identification and resolution, status updating, and analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions.
· Communicates effectively on complex technical matters to non-technical audiences, including the business community. Communications could include presentations, training, documentation, memos, etc.
17. Strong conflict resolution skills using a win/win approach.
18. Demonstrated experience implementing software and architectural design patterns.
19. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
1. Experience with frameworks such as Spring, AOP.
2. Experience with JMS and WebSphere MQ.
3. Functional testing experience with a tool like Selenium and/or Quick Test Pro.

8. Experience with Oracle and DB2 databases.
9. Experience with Python, Ruby and Perl scripting languages.
10. Demonstrated experience designing solutions in an enterprise environment requiring integration between the mainframe and distributed platforms.

Deliverables:
1. Ongoing input to the project leadership teams on critical tasks and/or issues.
2. Design documents as required.
3. Application code that adheres to enterprise and industry standards.
4. Application builds on windows and UNIX platforms.
5. Resolution to development, issues and leadership tasks as assigned.
