Unix Administrator
Location:Dallas @ TX
Duration:6+ Months
Description:
Performs installation and support for Solaris UNIX/Linux systems, including integration, backup, recovery, and security.
Candidate should have experience with virtualized environments as well as build and run time support of servers utilizing enterprise storage (SAN and/or NAS) in a heterogeneous server environment.
Responsibilities:
Integration of and ongoing support of Unix/Linux based systems.
File system and volume management (Veritas).
System backup and recovery (Veritas NetBackup).
System patching, user maintenance, DBA support.
Capacity planning, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis.
Managing VMware guests - console configuration, updating VM tools, systems management.
Minimum Requirements:
3-5 years applicable experience in a medium to large UNIX/Linux environment on physical and virtualized platforms (VMware).
Hands on experience on SAN and NAS configuration and administration (EMC, NetApp).
Medium to high level knowledge of Sun Solaris 10.
2+ years of Shell and/or Perl scripting for administrative purposes.
Working SAN and NAS knowledge; EMC and Network Appliance.
Excellent communication and planning skills; ability to interface with management and business partners at all levels.
Familiar with change control processes.
Red Hat Cluster configuration and maintenance.
Experience with virtualization technologies (ESX / VMware, Solaris Zones).
