Position:  MicroStrategy Subject Matter Expert

Location:  Boston, MA

Duration:  Long Term

Employment Type:  W2 / C2C

Description/Comment: Support the Investment Division under the General Fund Investment Systems group, with their Business Intelligence, Data Management, Analytics and Data Mining shared services practice area. Key contributor to the Business Objects 3.x to MicroStrategy 9.3 migration project. Specific focus will be supporting our MicroStrategy 9.3 environments.  

Looking for MicroStrategy Subject Matter Expert with the ability to effectively support large scale BI projects and upgrades. Work with users to understand their BI requirements. Plan and implement effective solutions to meet the need.

Develop custom reports using MicroStrategy, handle administrative requests (ids, passwords, folder moves, etc., assist in troubleshooting for MicroStrategy problems.  

Support a group of developers and business units in the use of these tools. Research related tools and provide guidance around BI and Data Management direction, technology, operations, data consolidation and integration efforts. Define best practices and related policies to recommend improvements to operational efficiency

Responsibilities:

·         Support the Manulife Investments business unit with their Business Intelligence, Data Management, Analytics and Data Mining shared services area.

·         Ability to manage large scale BI projects, migrations, and upgrades

·         Research tools and provide guidance around BI and Data Management strategy, technology, operations, data consolidation and integration efforts.

·         Define BI Strategic Roadmaps

·         Define data warehouse and ETL strategy

·         Define best practices and policy to improve operational efficiency

·         In depth working knowledge of Informatica administration and SQL programming (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase)

·         Knowledge of Web Application Servers

·         Investment business knowledge is an asset

·         Collaborates with key stakeholders, other IS groups, operational support teams and vendors to ensure Investment Division requirements are understood 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:

·         University degree (Computer Science or related discipline preferred) or equivalent experience.

·         5 or more years progressive experience in a large, multinational organization, experience within financial services or insurance industry preferred

·         5 or more year's specific hands on experience in the support and administration of MicroStrategy. Experience with Business Objects is a plus.

·         Broad knowledge of other related technical disciplines: middleware, database, capacity, performance management, etc.

·         Knowledge of emerging technologies and vendor landscape; ability to quickly comprehend the functions, capabilities, and impact of new technologies.

·         Ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate; ability to lead and influence technical peers and decision makers.

·         Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.

·         Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

·         Strong planning and organizational skills.

·         Knowledge of financial models and budgeting; ability to estimate the financial impact of technology alternatives and to balance costs against benefits Start
