Title : Sr Java developer

Location : Westbrooke,Maine

Duration : 2-6 months

The Senior Java Application Developer is a "hands on" application development role responsible for participating in the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of a custom worldwide Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). 

This global application leverages a Service Oriented Architecture supported by web services (JAX-WS/JAX-RS), an enterprise service bus (Oracle Service Bus), a robust data abstraction tier (JPA and Oracle's Data Service Integrator), and an Oracle relational database to support a high volume, transactional laboratory business application. 

Applicants should have demonstrated application development experience creating multi-tiered, enterprise Java applications utilizing technologies like Java Swing, Web Services, EJB/MDB, SOA (WebLogic, WebSphere, Oracle, etc.).

Responsibilities include Java application design and development efforts, mentoring junior staff, providing work estimates, and participating in code reviews.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive and develop technical designs for applications.

Define implementation approaches, algorithms and code structure to meet the requirements of the various development or maintenance activities.

Develop code and execute programming activities required to meet the requirements from above.

Ensure the appropriate testing of applications software prior to release.

Mentor other Java developers on proper code design and architecture Troubleshoot more complex software issues, as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION:

BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or other related disciplines. 

Equivalent work experience and education is acceptable.

EXPERIENCE:

8 + years in designing and developing business applications.

Demonstrated experience designing and developing in an enterprise Java environment.

Strong Process Orientation including experienced in Software Design and Development Methodologies.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.

Proven ability to work in a self-directed work environment.

Proficient in the following technologies, Java, enterprise middleware, web service development, XML/XSL/XQuery, Relational Databases.

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with individuals at all levels within the company.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent cross-functional team participation skills
