Project Description:
The SQL Developer works within a team to develop database & data feed solutions, administer database servers and participate in all phases of development projects while providing support to existing clients.
Responsibilities:
· Build Database Solutions - Develop databases to support web based, high-volume transaction applications.
o Create & maintain all database structures
o Manipulate & load data
o Build data conversion programs
o Develop Reporting Services reports
o Work in collaboration with .NET programmers to fulfill business requirements
o Unit test solutions to ensure expected results
· Build Feed Solutions – Develop and administer feeds to ensure flow of data & media to and from business
o Use various source & targets to build flows – XML, Flat File, Web Service, JPEG, etc.
o Develop imports and extracts to and from existing SQL databases.
o Unit test solutions to ensure expected results
· Administer Databases - Actively participant in the analysis, design, implementation, testing, documentation and maintenance of all database environments.
o Tune & optimize the performance by regular evaluation and monitoring of databases and their objects to identify and resolve performance and reliability issues.
o Troubleshoot in all database environments using available tools to diagnose & resolve issues
o Backup & restoration of databases for disaster recovery, testing and development work
o Patching & upgrade of SQL Server software
o Migration of environments
o Deployment of database solution code
o Administer Reporting Services instances – deployment of objects, security, etc.
· Non-Technical Tasks
o Provide written and verbal communication on project: progress, implementation, issues, and risks.
o Collaborate in the on-going development of team standards and best practices
o Work to analyze customer requirements and design appropriate solutions
· Support of Existing Clients
o Responding to application owners regarding work items in team database queue
o Analyzing needs of work items
o Developing and deploying: data, code and feed changes to resolve items
Qualifications:
· Proven experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment including: the use of Management Studio (SSMS), Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), Profiler, and other tools as needed
· Proven experience with various development technologies - T-SQL, Scripting, SSIS, SQLCLR, .NET, DTS, SSRS
· Proven experience in versions of SQL Server from 2000 to the present version
· Data transformation and analysis in both normalized and de-normalized data environments from a wide variety of data sources.
· Experience with the development and support of web enabled database applications.
· Experience with synthesizing requirements from business users and transforming them into logical and physical design
· Experience with support and administration of multi-database environments including SQL Clustering and various SAN storage solutions.
· Familiarity working with source control systems and deployment technologies such as Team Foundation Server (TFS)
· Highly organized individual, capable of handling multiple conflicting priorities and comfortable working with a diverse team.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline with an information technology focus or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years of proven Database Administration experience using MS SQL Server in a high volume environment.
· Minimum of 4 years of SQL programming expertise including development of stored procedures.
