Programmer Analyst 
6+ Month Contract


POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
Provide operational leadership, support, training, testing for assigned applications which will include Web Application Infrastructure (middleware technologies). Work closely with business sponsors to present standard and/or custom build offerings, as necessary. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 
· Execute and lead all phases of middleware builds and coordination with contract and MS resources to ensure quality and completion. 
· Provide application technical support consistent with defined service levels for assigned application. 
· Follow MSS-IT standards, procedures and methodologies for project management and system development. 
· Ensure applications operate in accordance with the needs of the business and optimize Medtronic's investment 
· Build credible relationships across teams to understand functional specifications, as well as confirm support requirements 
· Collaborate to ensure appropriate planning and execution of delivery, cutover, and hypercare activities 
· Govern the following phases of the development life-cycle: design, development/unit testing/, break-fix support of FUT/UAT, hypercare, and support 
· Partner with functional and technical teams to coordinate triage and resolution of issues within defined service levels 
· Perform technical support and system development functions, consistent with defined service levels, for assigned business applications. This includes the ability to: 

  • o work closely with end-users to identify issues and capture business requirements 
  • o translate business requirements into system design specifications 
  • o perform appropriate development and testing activities 
  • o communicate clearly both verbally and in writing 
  • o coordinate activities between both end-users, other IT departments and offshore leads 
  • o Lead troubleshooting initiatives for issues that arise. 
  • o Resolve complex client technical issues: 
  • o Isolate and determine root cause of complex technical problems based on client and support center input; work on problems of moderate to difficult scope where analysis of situations or data require an in-depth evaluation of various factors 
  • o Resolve technical issues escalated from the IT Support Center and other team members 
  • o Troubleshoot and analyze symptoms related to computer system errors to determine effective resolution of client issue 
  • o Interact with escalation resources (vendors) to resolve complex technical issues as required 
  • o Create appropriate documentation as defined by the development methodology 
  • o Manage ServiceNow bucket 
  • o Transition & prioritize tickets (daily) 
  • o Liaison for escalation or sensitive support issues w/ customer 
  • o Giving direction on actions for complex ticket resolution 
  • o Interface w/ vendor support 
  • o All P1/P2s - MI's 
  • o Ownership w/problem management & coordination w/ Architecture 

· Define and maintain support plans, SLAs, and metrics outlining team performance managing support queues 
· Govern staffing plans and assignments, as well as provide day-to-day direction regarding assigned work and priorities 
· Partner with applications, infrastructure, business and project teams to define processes and procedures to monitor systems, rapidly respond to incident tickets and provide status to management on business impact. 
· Provide leadership during critical management situations and organize support teams towards impact mitigation. This includes facilitating crisis management process and follow-up on issues root cause resolution with corrective / preventive measures. 
· Early engagement in application life cycle process and collaborate with project team in defining business support models consistent with defined overall production / application support strategy and approach. 
· Provides effective change leadership in driving continuous improvements and innovation in the business focus production support area 

Maintain competency in the technologies related to responsibilities. 
o Manage all phases of middleware builds and coordination with contract and MS resources from initiation to implementation. 
o Manage all phases of Global Portfolio Solutions technical support and coordination. 

Responsible for the following deliverables: 
• Technical design specifications 
• Code Review 
• Support Plans (SLAs, Metrics, Work flow) 
• Applicable SOPs 
• CMDB 

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
· Experience with installation, configuration and troubleshooting issues related to web hosting technology. 
· 4+ years Database knowledge. 
· Background in web application technologies. 
· Infrastructure and firewall solid background. 
· Server administration / Database knowledge. 
· Experience in server builds using the following: 

  • o Apache/IIS/Sun One 
  • o Tomcat/Weblogic/JBOSS 

· Enterprise Application Platform experience with SunOne, Weblogic, Active Directory, AEM, Apache web server, IIS and Tomcat. 
· GUI Development Tools experience with ASP, JAVA, SQL. 
· Programing Language experience with SQL, XML, C#, .NET, asp.net 
· Reporting tools experience with SSRA & SSAS 
· Server experience with Window, Solaris, Unix and Linx 
· Database experience with MSSQL 
· ITIL v3 Foundation Certification-preferred
