Role: SQL DBA

Location: Farmington, CT

RDMS and Business Intelligence environments. Work closely with staff to manage the development of database and Business Intelligence solutions supporting the information needs of internal and external customers.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Actively participate in the upgrading of our SQL Server environments from 2000 to 2008. Help to manage the upgrade process managing the order of upgrades, the testing and the rollout of upgraded environments, coordinating with other IT resources, as needed to successfully accomplish tasks at hand.

2. Manage the administration of our Reporting Services 2008 environment. Assist in the rollout of Report Builder 2.0 to users.

3. Work with developers to properly migrate objects through dev, test and production environments adhering to our change management principals. Assist staff in administering change management principals to all database elements including the creation, alteration, deletion and copying of schemas, databases, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers and integrity constraints. Provide assistance, where necessary, to developers in building stored procedures, views, and other objects in SQL Server.

4. Assist in the maintenance and security of the Business Intelligence environment, including making sure OLAP Cubes run successfully, and providing backup support for troubleshooting problems and granting security to the web environment.

5. Perform configuration and provide operational support for the CCI Data Warehouse/Pharmacy and other SQL Server databases. Operational support includes ensuring that downloads, data feeds, backup/recovery strategy, logging, security, and access are performed properly and according to agreed upon refresh schedule.

6. Support IPA, PHO, Employer Group and other third party vendor access to utilization data through data feeds or other forms of access. Responsible for creation, maintenance, and execution of data feeds according to schedule.

7. Participate in the Implementation of projects under project management and SDLC principles and procedures.

8. Participate with the SQL Server team in monitoring server performance, utilizing monitoring tools such as Enterprise Manager, SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, Diagnostic Manager, and Configuration Manager.

9. Support the administration of system security for all SQL Server databases including the creation and management of user profiles, passwords, and database access rights. Assist in altering current environment to meet new role-based security requirements, SOX and HIPAA compliance.

10. Participate in applying service packs and hot-fixes to SQL Server environment and testing support for any OS patches.

11. Support development teams & business areas in use of the Data Warehouse and other SQL Server databases.

12. Assist in the implementation of system, data, and architectural operating principles and standards.

13. Responsible for maintaining documentation of the database environment, including data models, data dictionaries, configurations for Disaster Recovery purposes.

14. Help ensure innovative technology/database solutions are brought to the table for all major projects.

15. Participate in audits, on an as needed basis.

16. Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.

Technical Knowledge, Experience, Skill Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent work experience.

2. Four years plus of previous experience with relational SQL Server databases and Data Warehouse operations. Experience with client/server development preferred. Knowledge of MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, Reporting Services and DTS/SSIS required.

3. Strong Transact SQL skills required.

4. Experience upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005/2008 required.

5. Oracle 10g and HP-UX knowledge helpful.

6. MS SQL Server certification preferred.

7. Familiarity Cognos Administration or other BI technology preferred.

8. Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and technical skills required.

9. Working knowledge of PC software MS Windows XP, Server 2003/2008, MS Access, VISIO, MS Project and multi-user client/server applications preferred.

10. Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.

11. Ability to handle multiple priorities required.
