Front End Developer

3 months

Our client has an opening to assist in the Data Visualization Project for the external minneapolisfed.org website.

·       This individual will work closely with existing Public Affairs User Experience Specialist to support the front-end web interface development on projects related to minneapolisfed.org, m.minneapolisfed.org and the public digital channels of the Bank, including iOS development for the Bank's iPad app (i.e. Minneapolis Fed Reader for iPad) and data visualization work with libraries such as jQPlot and Google Charts.  This individual will also work closely with the current dedicated developer from IT who supports Public Affairs and the minneapolisfed.org website.

·       Provide ongoing assistance as a temporary member of the Public Affairs digital team in support of publishing and front end development needs for the Bank's external digital channels, including Desktop and mobile web sites and some iOS development.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

1.        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Design or equivalent training and certification and/or experience.

2.        5 or more years of web development and/or data visualization experience using JavaScript and other non-Flash data visualization libraries for web site\ delivery (particularly useful will be knowledge of jQPlot, GoogleCharts and Flex). Experience with Cold Fusion or other web programming languages a plus.

3.        Knowledge of CSS/CSS3/HTML5.

4.        Demonstrated interpersonal skills. 

5.        Demonstrated communication skills:

1. Communicates proactively in a project environment with colleagues and management on a wide variety of project issues.  Key skills include issue identification and resolution, status updating, and analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions.
2. Communicates effectively on complex technical with project team, including Public Affairs staff and management.  Communications may include presentations, training, documentation, memos, etc.  

 

Deliverables:

1.        Active member of the Public Affairs Digital/Design Team as an experienced UX developer, working on active digital products in support of the Bank's external digital communication. Key level of support covering a FT staff who will be on leave, particularly front end development needs.

2.        Knowledge transfer between contractor and Fed staff in PA and IT will occur at the end of the project period, specifying key projects and development tasks completed during the 12 week engagement.

3.        Ability to work on an environment that supports various portions of  minneapolisfed.org, m.minneapolisfed.org and the Minneapolis Fed Reader for iPad. (e.g., Recession in Perspective, Banking Conditions, Oil Patch data site).
