Here are the requirement details

Title : Database Architect

Location: Boise Idaho
Duration : 12  Months (partb time: 800 hours in total)

Deliverables: The chosen Data Base Architect would work with the Program Manager and IDOC staff to:

 

I.                    Perform Data and Systems Analysis

    1. Analyze current data sources that support the business functions of IDOC.
    2. Prepare electronic, written and verbal reports of the state of the data and IT applications.
    3. Recommend and maintain industry standard data documentation (data dictionary, ERD, etc.).
    4. Work with end-users of current data to create and document solutions for invalid or missing data elements.
    5. Evaluate system and data architecture to make recommendations for improvement.

II.                  Recommend technical solutions

    1. Understand IDOC's short and long-term data correction needs and make recommendations on analysis tools.
    2. Recommend processes to clean or fill in missing data.
    3. Recommend testing processes to ensure user needs are met and current systems continue to function.
    4. Recommend cleansing and extract, transfer, and load (ETL) tools.
    5. Recommend architectural improvements to current systems.
    6. Recommend interim solutions and structures to improve performance and prepare for OMS implementation.

III.               Build approved solutions

    1. Apply technical abilities to create code, data structures, and other objects to implement approved solutions.
    2. Use IDOC standard tools of Java, Javascript, SQL and SQL Server to implement approved solutions.
    3. Follow Agile principles to build and release iterative and incremental solutions.

IV.               Prepare IDOC data for migration to a COTS system

    1. Ensure that work performed prepares IDOC for eventual data migration activities.
    2. Create and maintain documentation for use by IDOC and the selected OMS vendor.
    3. Work with the OMS vendor on behalf of IDOC to migrate data.

V.                 Follow IT Applications and OMS Program Standards

    1. Weekly timesheets to be submitted in a manner approved by IT Applications.
    2. Provides detailed design and specification documentation, including flowcharts, for all aspects of the database.
    3. Participates in the identification, prioritization, and development of technical initiatives and strategies.

VI.               Status Reports

    1. Status Reports summarizing all progress, findings and recommendations will be delivered weekly during the   engagement to the IDOC IT Manager.

 

 

 1.      Six plus years of relevant experience in databases and programming.

2.      Four year college degree in computer science or equivalent technical study.

3.      Two plus years of Microsoft SQL and/or Informix database systems, and capable of hands-on work in all phases of database design, implementation and management.

4.      Two plus years of Java or equivalent Object Oriented programming language, and capable of hands-on work in all phases of software design, implementation and management.

5.      Two plus years analyzing business requirements for design and implementing changes to databases and/or software code as required.

6.      Ability to perform data extraction, transformation and loading as needed to meet requirements.

7.      Ability to perform systems analysis on database, and resolves performance, capacity, and replication issues as necessary.

8.      Experience in working within an agile methodology framework/environment is necessary.

9.      Experience working with state government agencies on system migrations is necessary.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, evidenced with examples of technical and process documentation is necessary.
