Job Description:

The Data Migration Expert acts as senior DBA in the front office and is responsible for maintaining and implementing database related activities, security and establishes policies & procedures for complex database management against agreed SLAs to ensure database service availability and reliability. He/She will also act as a gatekeeper to ensure all incoming Database related migration requests would indeed fulfil the migration selection criteria. Determine if it can be hosted on the shared DCS environment. Provide inputs to the DB Specialist if required.

The Senior DBA must be able to function in multiple roles from leader to project member with the ability to self direct, work independently as well as in a (large) team. This job requires a very skilful DBA with business awareness, ability to translate business requirements into database solution, has good customer, internal and vendor contacts, has excellent understanding of available services, processes and tools and strong affinity to the region which he/she is working in.

 

Specific Experience & Skills:

• Speaks and writes fluent English and has multiple years of experience working in a global Organization.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant Operating Systems (Unix/Linux and/or Windows) and supported database management systems (Oracle)
• At least 7-10 years' experience in an IT function, of which 5 years experience has been in a Oracle DBA support role, preferably in a leadership or consultancy role.
• In-depth knowledge of database design (logical & physical), database architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of backup & recovery tools and procedures: hot backup, RMAN, TSM, NetApps Snapshots, etc.
• Experience in managing large complicated environments with various types of databases, versions, applications, customers etc.
• Performance tuning skills
• Knowledge of (used) monitoring tools (e.g. Grid Control, MOM etc)
• Preferable Application development knowledge.
