Position: Applications Developer
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Start: August 27th
Duration: 3 months+
Project: Client requests an application/developer with application development experience to design, develop SQL Server, and Oracle in enterprise environments. Develop in an object-oriented analysis and design environment.
Overseeing all phases of Software Development Life cycle, from analysis and design to implementation and maintenance.
Tasks:
Develop Client/Server applications using the databases SQL Server 2000 through 2012, and Oracle
Develop Object-Oriented Programs
Assist in development, integration, administration, and evolution decision support systems, and, in particular, the data warehouse, Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard and scorecards.
Collaborate with functional analysts and end-users to resolve design and/or product delivery issues.
Write specifications for decision support solutions as well as for deployment strategies.
Develop logical and physical data models based on business requirements and mapping entities to existing data sources.
Design data-edit and load programs for decision support applications.
Solve problems relating to applications program design and program performance.
Coordinate testing of data warehouse programming and deployment strategies.
Develop applications and write programs/scripts and systems documentation.
Develop standard reports and enterprise applications
Research solutions to system and application problems, including investigation of other institutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or 5 years' related experience.
The Applications Developer position is part of the Office of the Chancellor at System Research Office and will report to the Director of Data Management.
The System Research Office has technical responsibilities regarding the design, development, programming, and deployment of enterprise-wide decision support systems and, in particular, the data warehouse.
The primary responsibility of this position is application and report development and support of enterprise systems for the client.
The candidate should be a highly creative individual with the desire and ability to create excellent, scalable, sustainable decision support systems.
Requisite Skills:
Experience working with database-related technologies, including relational and dimensional database modeling.
Experience in SQL Server Databases required.
Additional experience on Oracle preferred.
Strong SQL and PL/SQL Knowledge of database like Oracle
Experience developing User Interfaces
General Requirements/Deliverables/Outcomes:
Experience in creating GUI screens using HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and JAVA technology toolset.
Direct working experience in a relational database environment, specifically with Oracle and SQL Server.
Experience with Oracle and SQL Server development and management tools/toolsets.
Experience creating tables, views, triggers, constraints, indexes, queries, cursors, and stored procedures.
Experience working with web based OLAP reporting tools (such as SAS, SSRS and OBIEE, etc.
Experience working with SQL and visual query tools.
Experience in a Java development framework required.
Experience in a .net environments (web applications and desktop applications) a plus.
Working knowledge of multiple relational database and ERP systems (SQL Server/Access/Oracle/), and web-based data deployment methodologies highly desirable.
Experience with ETL (data extraction, transformation and load) methods and technologies.
Strong ability to understand the data and the relationship between data.
Experience in cutting edge business intelligence dashboard and scorecards technology.
Experience working in a higher education environment a plus.
