Duration: 6+ months contract
Job Description:
Analysis and Recommendation
· Meet with developers and non-technical stakeholders to understand our current software development processes, technology stacks, development tools
· Meet with management and other consultants to understand our desired future-state processes
· Identify common processes shared by different areas of the organization, or which could be shared, while also documenting specific requirements unique to individual development teams
· Recommend templates, tools, project layouts/configurations, and other out-of-the box features that can accommodate both common processes and area-specific requirements
· Identify gaps with what TFS provides out of the box and provide/recommend solutions
· Meet with other TR development teams to evaluate their TFS implementations and identify how to leverage/reuse any components or customizations made in other TR teams
· Create a TFS Architecture and Platform Implementation that allows for common, shared processes as well as area-specific requirements
· Identify tools to allow integration of TFS with non-Microsoft and non-Windows IDEs and development tools
Migration
· Plan and Execute TFS Migration, including the migration of existing TFS projects to the new project layout and the preservation of existing work items, stories, tasks, and other project artifacts
· Plan and execute migration from other SDLC management systems (specifically VersionOne and Jira) to TFS, while preserving existing work items, stories, tasks and other project artifact
Process
· Current development process analysis
· Recommend process improvements
Custom Tools
· Create build scripts and configuration management
· Develop custom reports and templates
· Meet with management to understand requirements for reporting and metrics, and design custom reports to meet those needs
· Create tools and components to increase TFS functionality and better integrate with our internal processes
· Work item customization
Training
· Develops training materials, and offers training sessions for developers as well as non-technical team members on best practices for using and administering TFS
EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of five years working with TFS as a team leader or configuration manager, and deep experience in working with development teams to define SDLC processes and TFS implementations
· Deep familiarity with multiple development tools and integrating those tools with TFS
· Strong business analysis skills, including the ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical staff
· Deep familiarity with multiple development methodologies, including waterfall (CMM), RUP, eXtreme, Scrum, and other "agile" methods
