Communicate with staff or clients to understand specific system requirements.
Provide advice on project design concepts or design changes.
Document design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information.
Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability of system architecture.
Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.
Evaluate current or emerging technologies to consider factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, or usability.
Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems.
Identify system data, hardware, or software components required to meet user needs.
Provide guidelines for implementing secure systems to customers or installation teams.

- Involved in the development, communication, and implementation of the organization's technology architecture and applications plan, including the components required to support it and in the integration of corporate and business architectures and applications.
- Participates in coordinating, administering, and supporting activities related to infrastructure planning, data architecture, and development projects.
- Communication and coordination with business architects and other technical architects across the organization is expected.
- Experience in development of real-time, transactional processes (such as point-of-sale applications) is highly desirable.
- Technical expertise and development experience in SAS, Java, and service-oriented architecture is highly desirable.
- Reviews the work of others.
- Develops innovative approaches.
- Sought out as an expert.
- Serves as a leader/mentor.
