Contract to Hire
*Upon offer, candidates must complete a drug and background screening*
· Design and architect an Oracle 11g RAC and non-RAC database environments on a Unix platform for numerous projects.
· Configure/setup/plan for Recovery Manager (RMAN) Database backup and recovery, exports, and flashback database. Prepare and test backup/recovery scripts.
· Configure/setup/plan OEM database grid control for monitoring system and database performance and usage.
· Manage security of the database via roles/profiles/users and other mechanisms to achieve company's mandated standards and requirements.
· Configure/setup Oracle Data Guard for standby database (contingency).
· Responsible for database optimization and performance tuning.
· Apply Oracle patches and upgrades.
· Advice and assist applications development staff and users on database solutions to technical problems, data architectures, database management system usage and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases to handle applications' needs.
· Assist development, QA, and infrastructure teams in smoke testing (SQL scripts) and deploying applications across all environments.
· Define, maintain and monitor the database operating environment including search strategies, access methods, record relationships, data compression techniques, hardware and software efficiency, tuning techniques, changes in usage patterns and alternative design strategies to assure data security and maximum performance.
· Develop and maintain the overall database design including standard data definitions, data dictionary, physical database security, privacy, backup and recovery and support software.
· Predict the effect of new applications and application changes on the database and to recommend alternative solutions.
· Develop and enforce standards and procedures governing database usage to assure data integrity and physical data base security.
· Assist/facilitate/communicate database requirements and changes to Production DBAs.
Job Skills Required:
· 3+ years experience in Oracle 11g database administration, design, and support (preferably 11.2).
· 3+ years experience with migrating an Oracle 11g RAC from Solaris to AIX.
· 3+ years experience in database system planning and management (SAN, tablespace, datafiles, etc).
· 3+ years experience in backup and recovery plans and strategies via RMAN.
· Configuration/Setup experience with OEM and Grid Control.
· 3+ years experience in database performance optimization.
· 3+ years experience in application query optimization/tuning.
· 3+ years experience with UNIX operating system; Solaris and AIX required
· Strong knowledge and experience with Oracle Maximum Availability
Architecture (MAA) architecture, design, and implementation.
· 4+ years of experience supporting Oracle RDBMS (RAC) as DBA and/or Oracle Database Architect
· Be on-call rotation to support application team and production DBAs.
· 3+ years experience with PL/SQL development.
Job Skills Preferred:
· Experience with Oracle RAC 1 node database administration
· Experience with physical database design and modeling tool.
· Experience with shell scripting.
· Experience in the change management/change control process.
· Experience with SDLC and project management practices and methodologies.
· Experience with Control-M and/or CTM scripting.
