The selected candidate will be part of the biofuels team and will work under the direction of professional engineers. Responsibilities may include: • Follow all site safety policies and contribute to an environment where safety is the top priority• Work both independently and collaboratively to accomplish objectives • Build, calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and keep a clean work area• Responsible for chemical inventory and waste disposal• Jointly with professionals to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Lab Hazard Reviews• Document experimental results in a laboratory notebook• Conducting experiments according to standard operating procedures.Basic/Required: • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Valid driver's license • Associate's degree in a science or engineering field• 2 years of relevant work equivalent experience • Basic laboratory skills as demonstrated by laboratory experience or college level laboratory based class work . • Willingness and ability (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to perform/comply with following: o To ascend and descend three (3) flights of stairs o To work standing for a two (2) hour period o To lift a stationary weight of 10-40-lbs. from a floor to a bench level o To lift a stationary weight of 5-lbs. from bench level to a shelf 18-inches above bench level o To respond to sound and system fault light alarms o To pour solvents from a 4-L bottle into smaller containers o To manipulate high-pressure gas cylinders, use a cylinder cart, and attach a regulator to the cylinder using a wrench o To use a drum dolly or cart to manipulate drum-sized containersPreferred Qualifications:• A bachelor degree in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, or an engineering related discipline• Ability to manage a very diverse set of assignments• Lab instrumentation experience• Proven ability to self-start and work independently and within a team setting• Training or certifications in safety related courses/programs a plus• Good written and oral communication skills
