Job Description

 

Senior Applications Architect

This is a part-time position to supplement the existing software architectural work only

The Senior Applications Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing application infrastructure to provide highly complex, reliable, and scalable, applications and systems to meet the organizations, objectives and requirements.  Senior Applications Architects are familiar with a variety of the application technologies, environments, concepts, methodologies, practices, and procedures and rely on experience and judgment plan and accomplish goals.  Senior Applications Architects are able to perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimal or no direct supervision.  The Senior Applications Architect will have proven experience defining systems and application architecture.  Additionally, the Senior Applications Architect will provide a clear vision to management and team members of how the architecture will resolve issues and provide the needed functionality and features being requested.  The person filling this position must have excellent skills in risk analysis, problem solving, and creative thinking.

 

 

Agency Expected Deliverables

Experience:  Six years plus software development, testing, and/or project management

 

Education: Four-year college degree in computer science or related field with advance study preferred

 

Description of skills and knowledge include:

·         Interpret business requirements and convert to operational/functional code within the approved Java stack (Spring, SAML, Stuts, etc.)

·         SQL and PLSQL

·         Extensive experience in API creation, Rest/SOAP

·         Ability integration necessary security protocols within the code

·         Manages, organizes, and administers systems analysis and preparation of applications and operating systems programming to process data and solve problems by use of computers.

·         Establishes priorities and schedules, and oversees and reviews work of systems analysis personnel and programming personnel

·         Assists in the development of standards, procedures, and operating systems applications.

·         Works with stakeholders and management to ensure projects are completed on time and according to organization standards.

·         Consults with management to clarify systems and programs intent, identify problems, suggest changes, and determine extent of application systems changes required.

·         Compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions.

 

 

 

Specific Skills Required (Programming languages, databases, operating systems, etc.)

The expected level of Java background is high and must have the ability to provide hands on code-level changes although these types of changes should be completed by existing development staff.

This is a hands-on position, this person will interact daily with development teams primarily in a mentoring role.

This position requires strong communication and analysis skills and will be considered a senior-level technical resource. This position may be asked to provide training in various technologies in use and new technology being incorporated.

Skills required:

Advanced JBoss  6.x/7.x

 

Ability to collaboration with development teams and other architects in an Agile environment for problem solving.

 

What we are looking for is a strong technical contributor who can quickly come up to speed on our application infrastructure, both from a hardware and software perspective (Applications). The candidate filling this position must able to assist developers in resolving technical issues and assisting in the implementation of new technologies. Our current environment consists of :

Clustered environments

Apache – Web Servers

JBoss – Application Servers

Oracle 11g – (Upgrade Implementation) (New Oracle features RAC, Golden Gate, 24x7, and DR)

Performance monitoring tool - Wily Introscope 

Linux and Windows OS environments

Continuous integration development environment   (NeonEclipse, Developer Appliance, Jenkins Automated build and deployment tool, automated testing processes)

Legacy Java application. 1.8 million lines of  J2EE code based on GRNDS framework (pre struts), multiple 3rd party tools integrated into core applications (Adobe Livecycle/AEM, OPA rules engine, Siteminder, etc.)

Additional J2EE applications (eVerif-I, daily, monthly, quarterly, annual batch processes)

ESB/integration pattern (i.e.mulesoft, Oracle, etc.)

A public 24 x 7 portal, multiple partner automated real time/near real time interfaces

Implementation of new SOA system features.

The candidate filling this position must able to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Working knowledge of a modern welfare eligibility case management system and preferably hands-on experience with Idaho's Medicaid Eligibility automation.

 

Experience working with government agencies
