Job Description:

- Participate in on-call support of production databases on a rotating basis.  - Pro-actively monitor production database for high availability and performance.  - Provide DBA support to assigned projects  - Enforce best practices in all areas of database administration and architecture  - Follow established standards. Develop and document new processes and procedures as necessary.  - Installation, configuration, patching and upgrading of oracle server software / MS SQL server.  - Data modeling and database optimization  - Involve in capacity planning for growth and changes  - Must be flexible to support pre-scheduled after-hour or weekend work.

Education & Experience:

-          A minimum of 3-5 years of production support experience in UNIX environment.  -     A minimum of 5 years of development DBA experience. -       Certification is a plus.     Excellent communication skills for production support and participating in strategic planning and project meetings.  - A good team player. Willing to share and distribute knowledge through documentation.  - Ability to multi-task and work independently on projects.  - Ability to stay focused in tough/chaotic situations.  - Continually broadens own technical, functional and industry skill base.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Proven database administration experience in production database environments supporting Terabyte databases on HP-UX, Solaris and windows.  - Strong hands-on experience in monitoring and performance tuning using statspack and AWR reports.  - Thorough with tuning SQL, pl/sql and applications for performance.  - Fluent with unix korn shell scripting for automation and pro-active monitoring.  - Familiar with hp-ux system monitoring tools.  - Proficient using RMAN for backup and recovery  - Must have worked with help desk ticketing system and change control system in previous jobs  - Familiarity with Web methods, Web Logic and basic java principles is a plus. - Understand oracle partitioning and other data warehouse concepts.

 

Specifically for Oracle DBA:

 - Must be familiar with Oracle Snapshot technology. Oracle steams experience is desired.

 - Familiarity with Database console or Oracle grid is a big plus.

3.Application Support (Windows & Unix ) Consultant

Danbury, CT

Rate : $37/Hr only – Not Neg .

Duration : Long term(Min 1 yr contract)

Application support position, comfortable with linux and windows operating system
Ready to work on shift basis - morning and afternoon.

 

-          5-6 years of experience

        Ability to work on UNIX/Linus as well as Windows(Application is distributed on both OS)

•      Experience troubleshooting application servers (Tomcat and JBoss preferred)

•      Experience working in Cloud environments (Amazon Web Services or Verizon Terremark preferred)

•     Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities

•     Ability to troubleshoot the issues based System/security/application/IIS logs.

•     Should have experience in working on SQL. Should be able to handle simple queries.

•     Good understanding of backups, taking snapshot, deployments, IIS; An understanding of Load balancing and firewalls

•     Perform deployment of application patches and upgrades; perform reboots;  Make configuration changes as per procedure and direction.

•     Identify operational issues when they occur and assist in their resolution.

•     Knowledgeable in networking concepts and Basic network troubleshooting skills (ping, traceroute, telnet to a specific port).

•     Prior experience in sustain preferred.

•     Understanding of a scripting language (like DOS, Perl, Jscript, python)

•     Willing to work in 24/7 shift model

•     Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

•     Sense of ownership to follow problems to their resolution or transfer them to another resource.

•     Documentation skills
