Senior Java Fullstack  Developer  

Location: Knoxville,TN  (Tax Free State)

Duration: Long Term 

DESCRIPTION

• Client is looking for a talented software engineer in our Content Delivery group.
  
• We leverage in-house and cloud technologies to meet the ever-increasing demands for our content to be viewed on the growing area of platforms and devices.

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the web with a bias towards modern client-side web development. Recent technical discussions have included mechanisms of session affinity
  
• design considerations for session less applications; identity management and reverse proxies; code reuse
  
• front-end build packages and dependency management tools.
  
• Successful people are amicable, intellectually curious and eager to learn new things, and can effectively deal with and even capitalize on ambiguity.
  
• Serve as a team member contributing to the efforts of the development team, including internal and external/vendor team members.
  
• Drive continuous improvement in software development efforts by instilling best-of-breed engineering practices.
  
• Design, develop, modify, and implement software components anywhere in the stack – from server-side RESTful services to client-side JavaScript code.
  
• Assist in task planning, and estimation.
  
• Review the work of other peers on project teams.
  
• Work in close partnership with other team members and other teams.
  
• Promote proper best practices for agile scrum, including the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  

Required skills / experience:

• Minimum 6+ years of commercial web development.
  
• Experience leading a distributed team of both onshore and offshore team members.
  
• Experience in and success with Agile software development methodologies, especially Scrum and Kanban.
  
• Experience with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), and specifically designing and developing service interfaces using REST and to a lesser degree, SOAP.
  
• Experience in, and preference for, developing software in a CI/CD environment.
  
• Knowledge of JavaScript, including frameworks (AngularJS, Backbone.js, Ember.js, Knockout) is strongly preferred.
  
• Experience with a variety of open source  Java frameworks and tools.
  

Desirable:

• Familiarity with Amazon's cloud capabilities (ELBs, EC2 instances, SQS, EBS, S3) and hosting environment (regions, availability zones) is highly beneficial. We are migrating applications to the cloud, and nearly all new applications are designed to be deployed to the cloud.
  
• Proficiency in general scripting languages like Groovy and Python is beneficial.
  
• Experience with Tomcat or other application server(s) desired.
  

Education:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
