Job Title : Wintel Admin

Location : Lansing, MI

Duration : 6+ Months

 

Job Purpose

 

The Windows Server Administrator provides network infrastructure support for the Jackson Microsoft Server Operating System environment, which consists of 1,400+ servers and 3,500+ workstations covering multiple geographical locations. Support of the environment includes day-to-day maintenance, installations, enhancements, troubleshooting and resolution of complex system issues.

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs day-to-day system administration of the following Windows Server environments:

• Windows Server 2003 R2
• Windows Server 2008 Standard/Enterprise
• Windows 2007 SharePoint
• Windows 2005 SQL Server

• Performs software and hardware installations following established policies and guidelines.
• Troubleshoots and resolves hardware/Windows Server Operating system issues.
• Manages projects within deadlines and provides weekly project status reports to management.
• Analyzes performance of the environment and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Assists in designing, planning and implementing new technology initiatives within Jackson.

Other duties

• Participates in 24-hour on-call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Expert knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory Design and support.
• Demonstrated knowledge of deploying and maintaining Windows Server environment comprised of servers running both commercial and internally developed software.
• Experience deploying and managing server virtualization technology.(HP Blade Servers experience is preferred).
• Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively throughout the organization regarding technical matters.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Four to six years experience providing support in a multi-server corporate networking environment consisting of 600+ servers and 2,000+ users in disparate geographical locations.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Required

• MCSE certification or equivalent experience.
