Job Description:

· Design, develop, test and integrate network management software to control large networks of VSAT modems, both MFC GUI front-end and Linux back-end.

· Analyze and resolve the Legacy Network Management System issues in the areas of client-server architecture, infrastructure, redundancy, scalability.

· Provide senior-level contribution for the development of the Network Management System front-ends and back-end components, including API design and development, database interfaces, and overall graphical look-and-feel.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Skills:

 

EDUCATION:

BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Eight-plus years' experience in software development with several of the following:

· Experience with object oriented design and development.

· Experience with real-time, N-tier client/server architectures.

· Four-plus years of C++/Linux development experience.

· Two to four years of Visual C++ using MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) is required.

· Strong understanding of the MFC Document/View architecture.

· Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, sockets, and other IP protocols

· Knowledge of MySQL, or other RDBMS.

· Experience in a Network Management environment, preferable with some exposure to SNMP.

· Development experience in both Windows and Linux platforms.

· Some familiarity with satellite communications networks desirable.

· Strong verbal and written communications skills.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

Must have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated. Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to communicate effectively on various technical levels.

 

Must be able to work under pressure in high visibility situations. Must be able to quickly adapt to changing conditions and make decisions based on incomplete data.  Must be effective as a single contributor or as a leader as the situation warrants.
